The building is over 200 hundred years old. It's the kind of place where it's easy to believe the many stories of its being haunted. There's a gorgeous dining room upstairs, but it was closed on Wednesday night, so we ate downstairs in the charming tavern. The tavern was bustling with locals, playing a setback tournament. This is what I mean by the Milestone Inn delivering a sense of place. Local people love and use the place, but it is also a destination (especially during the holidays). The best restaurants and taverns in the world welcome everyone, but first and foremost they must have a connection to the community. In this important regard, the Milestone Inn is the real deal. Now to the food. There are more negative reviews than positive reviews, so we were a little trepidacious. But we were pleasantly surprised. They delivered a very solid cheese burger and the fried calamari was excellent. I ordered the braised beef short ribs on risotto. Now, risotto is perhaps one of the most dangerous orders one can make in the heartland, but I was pleasantly surprised. Risotto has to be prepared fresh with the right kind of rice and can't be undercooked or overcooked (the most common mistake). High marks to the Milestone Inn for delivering a lovely risotto. The short ribs were a little dry, but I was very pleased with my order. Oh, and the draft beers were cold and fresh. I love the Milestone Inn.

My friend & I went for a quick lunch. Upon entering we had the feeling we didn't belong there. Apparently 66 Church is a typical cliquish pub where outsiders are tolerated. Our waitress finally showed us to a table & she acted like she was doing us a favor. Unbelievable !!! We waited over half hour for our food which was only quick bite items. It took nearly another 30 minutes just to get our check !!! We couldn't wait to get out of there. Never again will I set foot in 66 Church !! Rude, Rude, Rude !!!

I stayed at the hotel and had dinner at the restaurant. Whereas the room prices were very reasonable, I found the prices at the restaurant to be high. Everything is a-la-carte. A chicken or fish dinner entrée runs $24 to $30 and does not come with a salad or vegetable. I had the blackened rock fish for $24. It came on a bed of rice and beans. Nothing else. No Salad. No vegetable. However, the food quality was good. Fresh ingredients. Nice plating. I had dinner on a weeknight at 6:30PM. The restaurant was empty except for me. However, the bar next door was full and noisy. As attractive as the restaurant dining area is, the noisy bar next door and the front desk across from the dining area distracts from the dining experience. With only limited dining options close by to the hotel, it is a reasonable hotel restaurant. However, if I was not staying at the hotel, I would have looked elsewhere for a more enjoyable dining experience.

We went with family (and 2, 5 year olds ) for lunch after an event at the Oxford airport and waited over an hour for our food to be served, then one person in our party did not get their order. The wait staff was ok, but the kitchen must have been under staffed even though they knew an event was going on.The food was overcooked and the coffee was cold when I got it. They should have made a bigger attempt to, at least, feed the children firstThe food is over priced for what you get.

First, the atmosphere and âvibeâ was fun. Service was lacking. It took 15 minutes until we met our server, and from then on we spent most of our time looking for her - long waits for every phase. It wasnât THAT busy. Food, however came out in a timely manner, brought by an expediter. An hour and a half spent here for burgers and no offer for drink refills. Where was MJ???? The burgers and fries were very good. We also had a flight of drafts, and every glass had different levels of beer (short) and the slots in the flight board were full of beer. We would have asked for extra napkins, but we needed a server to get them. By the way, the menu(s) are ridiculous - WAY TOO MUCH. Like I said, a mixed bag.
