Located across the street from PNC Park, Mikeâs Beer Bar (formerly Beerhead Bar) is a premier craft beer destination in Pittsburgh. With 80 rotating taps (always more than 50 from the Pittsburgh area) and over 500 beers you are sure to find the perfect be
We met at Beer Head for a casual 'going away party' with friends and family. Late Sunday afternoon with Pirates out of town, we practically had the place to ourselves. We had our young kids with us, which was fine due to time of day/ day of week. Everyone grabbed beers and we ordered pizza to be delivered. Was a great, easy way to get friends together. This is difficult to rate on normal criteria because it is not a restaurant. I would say that it's an average bar in terms of atmosphere, service, price. But it is an interesting concept that we could bring in our own food and use it as a venue.

The only down side is that they don't serve lunch, but perhaps the limited kitchen time adds to the quality of the food. We stopped by on a Friday before a Pirates game and had great drinks, the Guinness was perfect, and dinner. The vegetables of the day were yummy, the burger very flavorful and juicy and the fish n chips moist and not greasy. I don't get here often, but I have never been disappointed. I already know what I'll have on my next visit.

this place is easy. part bar, part burger joint. ambiance is nothing fancy but hey, you're there for a burger and a beer, right? the service is what you'd expect and the staff is friendly and laid back. go, relax, chill. enjoy the second best burger in the city.

I took the Duquesne Incline up the hill and figured I'd have a late lunch somewhere "up top". Wandered in here and had a great time. The view of downtown Pittsburgh and the North Shore is of course amazing, as always. The food and drink were excellent, the service more than good enough for the time of day (end of lunch, prepping for the dinner crowd). I enjoyed my visit very much and intend to come here again--only I hope it isn't 54 years between incline rides for me!

Our Fridayâs menu (Catholic upbringing? ) was usually grilled cheese/ tomato soup & chips. So, I relived my childhood as I sat at the bar; only, they are much more creative than my mother. The YARD incorporates interesting ingredients w/savory flavor & sauces. I chose the CHEESY CAPRESY w/tomatoes & balsamic (incl tomato soup & chips). Five other choices including Mac & cheese, chicken, bacon etc.Eddie was a sweet waiter who recommended, didnât hover but was so kind to a solo diner. He was quite busy! They have âbrunchâ selections-eggs, pancakes, French toast etc. Flatbreads, burgers, sandwiches, soup, desserts round out the menu. Saturday specials were âall you can drink mimosas for $15 (a 15 drink minimum!!??). .& $3 yuengling 16 oz drafts.Itâs a bit hard to find, off Market Square next to Sienaâs & above Yogiâs Hot Dogs. Itâs in a 2 story walkup w/no elevator. Locals sure know itâs there. Sit @ the bar..Tell Eddie that Janice sent you!

I went here for a dinner in the middle of the summer on a weekday evening. It was raining quite heavily, so Market Square wasn't that busy; however, Winghart's (downstairs) was pretty crowded when I walked in. The place was small (narrow, but typical for the Market Square area). There wasn't much place to sit except at the bar downstairs, but I was able to immediately sit down upstairs. There was some seating outside on the balcony upstairs, and a downstairs patio area, but both were unoccupied due to the weather. Although the atmosphere is a bit different on both floors, both floors had the same menu.My server, who was also the bartender for the upstairs area, was prompt and very friendly. The drink menu was unique and varied (with, as the name suggests, a couple of different good sounding whiskey-based drinks). There was also a great selection of beer on tap.I ended up with one of their burgers, which was very good, and a very good cocktail. Overall, this was a great meal, and I hope to return.

The acoustics are the only problem at Bigham Tavern. When it is crowded, as is common nearly every evening, the noise level is such that carrying on a conversation becomes a shouting match. But of course the crowds mean the food is good, which it is. The addition of healthy alternatives to the otherwise heavy Pittsburgh menu is highly appreciated.

Tuesday is Bacon Night.
We arrived during early during happy hour for dinner so most menu apps were $5 and there were drink specials as well. We had the calamari (great), Lobster/crab Mac & cheese (phenomenal - easily shared between 2 or 3 people), Carnitas Mac & cheese (awesome - also extremely huge), the Totchos (good, not great) & Wings (great)! The inside of the restaurant was dark & dim & loud. We werenât crazy or sure about the vibe, but weâre from out of town, so it might be a great place for locals. The staff was great, the food came out quickly, the prices matched the quantity & quality of food. I only wish there would be more options for Mac & cheese sizes at lower prices.

One of our most favorite restaurants in the city is this local neighborhood mainstay. Great German food. The beer selection is great...try the sampler. If you like your potato pancakes one the "more done" side...ask for Sarah cakes (they make them the regular way and then they deep fry them for a min or two. It make them a little crisper (not over crispy) and more done inside. All other German favorites too!!! They use quality meats so everything is very good.If you are visiting and are on the north side...definitely look this one up. You cannot go wrong! We have never tried it, but we hear that the Sunday Brunch is outstanding.

While visiting Pittsburgh we decided to go for a morning walk to the North Shore. Our morning walk turned into a late morning happy hour when we passed by this place just after 10am. Really cool environment, great outdoor seating and great beer. Itâs amazing how much stuff is in that little area now. Great bar, will return when Iâm in the area. Definitely not a bad spot to sit outside at the bar and watch a college football game on a Saturday.
