Reviews on Pub food in Martinique, Caribbean. This Gallic toehold in the Caribbean exudes a distinctly French air, enticingly spiced up by West Indian warmth. Local culture and cuisine combine both influences. The stylish isle is dominated by Mount Pelee, which destroyed the city of St. Pierre in 1902. Black sand beaches and rainforests are found in the north, with yet more beautiful sands to the south. Sights include La Pagerie, birthplace of Napoleon's Empress Josephine, and Diamond Rock, a 600-foot pinnacle, once registered as a British warship.

Built in 1658 Habitation Ceron is a former sugar refinery. From Le Precheur you reach it after a few kilometers down the narrow coastal road. It's situated in an exceptional landscape of North-Carribean Martinique. To-day this estate preserves biodiversity and restores its old stone buildings. I started my stay by a pleasant walk along a torrent in the dense tropical forest surrounding the Habitation. I could see a wide range of plants and trees, especially a huge and striking zamana. After my walk I stopped for lunch in the restaurant located under a carbet in the shade of trees by the river. I received a lukewarm welcome that I forgot instantly by sipping a Planter's Punch and enjoying the exceptional position. Service was helpful and I really appreciated the refined fusion cuisine with Creole inspiration and use of local herbs and flowers. As appetizers I had stuffed piments then lobster ravioli with pan-seared banana and foie gras emulsion. Delicious. I ordered a glass of Chile white wine. As entrée I ate local crayfish a la plancha with zucchini and crispy poultry. Subtle and original. Café gourmand with chocolate cake, mango sorbet and lemon pie was also fine. In short a tasty meal in an amazing spot. Expensive but that was worth it.

Newly opened in August 2011. At the moment the bar/restaurant to be in Fort de France.
Great bar with a very upbeat friendly we-are-all-friends-here ambiance. Good service at the bar. Reasonable prices as far as bars go in Martinique. It's really all about the ambiance at the Garage. It's ALWAYS swinging. Whether you dress up or down you'll fit in wonderfully. The one minus for me is the inside smoking that smoking patrons love but it can be a real bother sometimes when you have to leave because your eyes are burning from all the indoor smoke. There's an indoor and outdoor (across the street) part to the bar but the lines got blurred over time I guess. There used to be a device that pulled the smoke away in the inside bar. Doesn't seem to work anymore. I still give Garage 4 stars for the great ambiance and the good service from staff. I always feel good when I go there.
