We visited for lunch, having originally considered staying here for four nights, but having received rather snooty responses to our email requests, stayed elsewhere. It was a good decision. The place looks rather tired and very different indeed to the beautiful website photos, the receptionist was totally charmless and local people told us that many guests were expressing disappointment. The view over the lake is beautiful, but other than at the hotelâs pier / pontoon you canât walk by the lake so you are somewhat trapped. Lunch in the Tap Room is fine, but no more than that. We sat on the covered terrace with a lake view. The lunch menu is (quite reasonably) simple lighter food. I started with a salad and my wife had oysters which clearly didnât belong in the shells in which they were served - they had been put in very small shells for a fairly large oyster. It is quite disconcerting eating an oyster that is no longer alive. My wife followed with cod and I had the prawn entrée which were both fine. For pudding the apple crumble bears no relation to the real dish and the apples were barely cooked; fairly awful It was also served with cream in a dollâs house sized jug. The lemon curd pudding was excellent. We chose a bottle of Québec white wine from a fairly good if expensive list. The service was fine, saved by a very charming French waitress. The bill for two was C$200 which felt a lot for what we had. I wouldnât go back or recommend it. On our return home our hosts said why didnât you go to Ripplecove which we did the following day which is vastly superior and reviewed separately.

Pub style food. Very small pub fair menu. Everything is ok. Nothing to roar about. Service can be slow.

For the best smoked meat in the Eastern Townships or simply have a drink, the B&G is your reference in Magog. Hand cut smoked meat on the spot! Sandwiches, ruben, pizzas, spaghettis, french fries and the best poutine in town.
After a great trek around the Magog boardwalk, was feeling really hungry. Found a great pair of cycling shorts/skirt at ski velo, asked the local sales guy...who has the best smoked meat sandwich in Magog?B & G smoked meats was his reply. So we went, I expected a gourmet bun or Old World bun piled high with smoked meats. Sadly I got a white bread bun with some sort of meat product piled high. Her veggie pizza was hand stretched, filled with veggies, popped into pizza oven, delivered hot.Luckily she topped out after 2 slices, I got the rest.Pizza - 8/10smoked meats - 3/10

Let's talk location...located on a very busy intersection, you would think it good for business, however, the traffic noice wasn't so they crank up the music instead. OK if you enjoy their choice of music. We ordered from the lunch menu..I ordered the crab cakes with salad and seafood ceviche. Enjoyed both very much. Others were pleased with their meals as well. value for money...questionable. they did have a place inside to play pool and inside area to eat as well.

Get away from those over-priced hotel breakfast buffets and their dry heat lamp scrambled eggs! We were staying close by in Orford and headed out to downtown Magog for a walk along rue Principale and happened upon this little pub that was open for breakfast. Small town friendliness from the moment we walked in and were allowed to choose our own table. We had a basic breakfast of bacon and eggs, everything was perfect right down to the homemade jams (please consider selling them!) and awesome little fried potatoes.

Les animaux de compagnie sont les bienvenus sur la terrasse. Les enfants peuvent venir si ils sont accompagnés.We are pet friendly on the terrasse. Childrens with parents are welcome.
Last minute choices on the Magog-Orford restaurant circuit, favourites which include 4 Saisons at Orford. Great choice from its inception. Whoops, closed on Monday so we tried The Burger Pub. Fun. Busy busy with lots of people action, all weekend/holiday warriors. Q-Trip: Take in the slow service, enjoy a fun bar and relax.

I usually do not go in the summer as the place is too busy. Possibly due to the road construction, we were able to get a table. The menu has been reprinted but most of the items are the same except that when ordering a burger, sides are no longer included. They also changed their glasses. I ordered a 10-ounce beer. When I saw the glass, I thought to myself, there is no way that this is 10 ounces. So I kept my glass (that I will return on my next trip) and checked it with a measuring cup. This is a 10-ounce glass but you only get 10 ounces if the fill it 100% to the rim with no space for an additional drop. Obviously they don't and you actually get 8 ounces of beer while paying for 10. This is why on some glasses of beer you sometimes see a line showing 10 ounces because to serve a client 10 ounces of beer you need a 12-ounce glass.Otherwise, food is ok and service was very slow again.
