The Egerton Arms is a traditional country pub with low beams, big fireplaces, bizarre antiques and a long bar with old brass pumps. Having now been revived as a local to the townsfolk of sunny Chelford, the pub features a fully equipped hundred-seater res
My wife and I have dined here on several occasions and always enjoyed the food, the ambiance and the service. How would they cope with over 30 hungry, rain sodden pensioners after their four and a half mile trek through the glorious , but very wet Cheshire countryside? We had pre- booked our lunches and were delighted by the quality and variety of food and the very efficient but unobtrusive service. The layout of the building is spacious but cosy with plenty of room in each of its open plan areas. There is an atmosphere of genteel quality and genuine warmth in the welcome from the team . I particularly like the constant changes in the weekly menu that take advantage of local fresh ingredients and the creativity of the chef.

Small cosy European-style bar a stones throw from Macclesfield railway station, serving coffee, teas, fine wine, world beers but main speciality is local real ale!
Stopped in for. Quiet pint with a friend and the beers are very good, good range and well kept. Have a quiz on Mondays.Thank you for your review - weâre very pleased you enjoyed our beer.Quiz nights are on Sundays but we do have the Stitch & Bitch knitting group and German Conversation Group on Mondays.

A recent review took issue with the presence of bones in a lemon sole dish. Yes I know fish have bones, but why leave them in, why not fillet the fish for the convenience of the Customer? And these were no ordinary bones but pieces of spine with side bones like needles. Having to remove a bone from your mouth that had escaped the initial search of the dish is not an enjoyable experience. And a search was necessary because the fish was covered by the rest of the dish. And it was a shame to have this trouble because the dish tasted good. I also felt that our welcome could have been more fulsome. We certainly didn't mind waiting for the 5pm starting gun and it is surely not a crime to register an interest in some nibbles, a request that could easily have been met with a smile.Dear SirAs with my last response the afore mentioned Lemon Sole dish was advertised as being 'Whole Baked'. This would imply that the fish is baked whole and not filleted. As mentioned before if, you the customer, had asked for the fish to be filleted we could have easily done so, thus having no bones.I strongly disagree with the remark regarding your welcome as it was myself that greeted you upon entering my pub, you were given a taster of the local ale, shown to a large table in the window for your part of three, given menus and the point that food started at 5pm was clarified. All seemed good.At 4.50pm you approached the bar to order nibbles to which I merely stated that we did not start food till 5pm. If I appeared to be rude then I apologise, but, was merely reiterating the point that we did not commence food service till 5pm, something that you had been told not 10 minutes previously. There certainly is no starting gun. We regularly take food orders early if the kitchen is ready for service, on the day of your visit we had a very busy lunch service & the kitchen were a little behind getting ready for the evening service hence I could not take your order. We take enormous pride in the product we offer, in both the food and service that we provide every day of the year, this can clearly be seen other reviews on this website and the fact we hold 4.5 star rating on both Google and Facebook. I feel on this occasion we must agree to disagree as I am perfectly satisfied with the level of service you and your party received, as previously mentioned by another member of your party in the last review. So, following the two 2 star reviews that your party of three have posted maybe our establishment is not the one for you. Many ThanksPete the Owner.

This is a traditional pub in a lovely waterside setting on the edge of Macclesfield forest. Excellent food is served lunchtime and evening. A standard menu is supplemented by a daily "blackboard" of "specials" which features the best of local produce. Wit
Whilst we frequents this lovely place quite often, this was our first "Gourmet" evening. Raised the bar even more with the lovely presented pheasant dish. Very nice, thank you John and the team.

Came here with a largish group. Service was friendly and fast although we hadn't pre-ordered. Starter (spring rolls) were very nice, main (pork & apple) was tasty but rather lacking in vegetables and a bit too much meat. Sweet - chocolate fudge cake -was OK but a bit on the dry side.Eaten here a few times and this was slightly disappointing compared to previous occasions.
Where to eat Bar food in Macclesfield: The Best Restaurants and Bars

After reading all the excellent reviews on here Iâm sad to be writing a poor one. This is a lovely looking quintessentially English pub with a lovely selection on the main menu and specials board. The problem for us was the service. Weâd booked a table and the lady behind the bar was off with us from when we arrived, like it was inconvenient that we wanted to eat. When we ordered our food we asked if the garlic butter could be removed from the steak for our son, to be told âyouâll like itâ and it canât be taken off. Later when the food arrived we werenât spoken to at all, not asked if weâd like any sauces, if everything was ok. We were just ignored. I must point out that the food is truly delicious. The garlic butter with the steak is easily removable, itâs only put on the top so my son could take it off. I had the rabbit and ham hock pie which was delicious and filling. My sincerest compliments to the chef.We would have stayed for desserts and further drinks but we felt so unwelcome that we paid and left. In the age of online reviews itâs not good enough to think that because weâre tourists and not locals it doesnât matter if youâre not polite. The older lady should have been more friendly and interested and the young waitress needs training on how to speak and look after the customers. Itâs rare for me to rate places as poor and it doesnât feel good to do so, but we were so stunned at the treatment we received Iâm left with no choice. The saving grace was the deliciousness of the meal.
