Food whilst is nice is very over priced, the vegetarian mixed grill my brother had was £14 for two Quorn sausages chips and veg which is hardly value for money. I waited about half and hour for drinks and the service was lack lustre on a quiet day, very disappointing I saw others wait and then saw all the staff at the bar. Not exactly what I would call good service, I saw a blonde lady who was probably mid 30s smile, everyone else was miserable. Good food, poor service.

We booked the private dining area at The Windmill for a dozen close family and friends to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday, and are so glad we did. The venue was perfect, food excellent, and nothing was too much trouble for Luke and his lovely staff. These occasions are very special, and they really went the extra mile to make sure we had a happy and memorable day. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

For the third year running a large group of friends from around the country congregated here for a social evening together. We had checked with the pub months in advance and recently confirmed. 40 people enjoyed a very pleasant evening with good beer and friendly staff but we only found out they weren't serving food when we arrived. People had driven for a couple of hours planning to spend an evening together and, based on how good food had been in previous years most were likely to order some food but had to leave to find food elsewhere before returning. Why didn't they call our organiser to let him know beforehand? I live the venue and the good beer but we were badly let down this year. I have to admit that maybe we had a lucky escape? Upon visiting the ladies I was horrified at the dire standard of cleanliness. I have not seen toilets as abysmal as this for a very long time. Why are they not cleaned?

Mid-Work early dinner. Welcoming staff, nice traditional interior with a few well placed modern touches as well. Quite a few pubs nearby but pleased that I chose this one. My food tip is the Caesar Salad, which really is a meal. Good range of beers well presented.

Stayed here for 2 nights - very nice welcome from the staff - big room and very clean with good facilities. The only slight downside was that having a ground floor room means that you have to suffer from the noise of the footsteps of people above yo. Would stay again
