Traditional hand made food, exceedingly good ale, local family environment and a happy place of work.
Second visit and first since the change of ownership. A party of five adults and two children. A busy and bustling Sunday lunchtime. Really friendly staff, a decent choice of well cooked roasts and accompaniments. The service was a little slow but that can be forgiven by virtue of the fact that the food, when it arrived, was excellent. Desserts also very good indeed. I like this pub. There is nothing particularly swanky about it - just down to earth well cooked food in a nice atmosphere. Worth checking out.

We are a charming country pub, in the village of Darrington, near Pontefract. We currently serve a selection of Beers, lagers, ciders, wines & spirits as well as fresh tea and coffee. We have 2 amazing chefs who serve high quality food Wednesday - Sunday
Two of us, 10 am, looking for a nice tea or coffee and maybe a slice of cake? Big sandwich board outside - Coffee and Home made Cake. Exactly what we were looking for. Parked, went to the door. Locked. Tried another door. Peered through windows. Nobody in.Why are you putting your sandwich board with chalked notice of tea and coffee out if you are not open? Very disappointed.

Modern dining pub serving high quality British dishes and pub classics made from local produce. We offer craft hand-pulls, superb cocktails, a great wine list with most by the glass and a superb Yorkshire Sunday roast.â
This establishment deserves the highest grade possible. Party of 5, one allergy, one vegan, plus a dog. The staff member was the most helpful iâve come across in a very long time. Food very good. Lovely friendly place, well worth a visit.

The Blue Bell is a great local country pub in the village of Wentbridge, West Yorkshire. Situated on the Old Great North Road, the pub dates back to the thirteenth century. Our friendly team serve good food and real ales every day. There's a large choice
Had visited here on a number of occasions and food always been good. However feel that more recently quality and standard of food and service have deteriorated. We had booked a table for 5 yesterday and felt that they could not wait to get us of our table quick enough. Two member of staff came over twice whilst one of the party were still eating which is extremely rude. We did not realise we had to eat and run!! We could see the staff discussing our table which is a bit offputting so unfortunately we wont be going there again.

A family friendly tradition real ale pub overlooking the canal with ample parking, kids play area and decked terrace. Please Note We Serve Sunday Lunches Only....
There are no airs or graces in this pub, just a friendly atmosphere and good food.Itâs long overdue some redecoration, but nevertheless it is spotlessly clean. They only serve food on a Sunday or on Quiz night on a Thursday. Weâve only eaten there on a Sunday and we go back again and again. If we have a complaint itâs that they give you too much food!! The pub is situated next to the canal and has a decking area which is lovely in the summer, watching the boats go by.Itâs a nice family and pet friendly pub, well worth a visit.

Stopped here for lunch on way to the castle. Price was £7 for a carvery. 2 courses. The food was enjoyable. Very pub grub and not restaurant standard- but for the price extremely good. Beer also very reasonably priced. Decor not fantastic but still cosy and the staff were most welcoming and helpful.

Saturday lunch with friends, Monk Fryston was the mid way meeting point. What a find in The Crown. Great food, great portions - the pie outstanding. Good beers as well. The staff were spot on, Carlie on the bar one of the best. Highly recommended.
