I have eaten hear a lot and always left having a delicious meal l but never written a review. I was there on the 14th August. I was with a group of 5 Friends . Fabulous atmosphere and staff friendly as always. We all had 5 different mains no starters. We had fresh cod, a bacon cheese burger, steak sandwich and scampi and chips. We all had a wonderful meal everything was delicious and cooked 2 perfection all washed down with a beautiful bottle of red wine. It was busy and the staff couldnât have been nicer. Looking forward 2 our next visit. Well priced for the quality of food.

Went there for lunch after a boat trip. Service amateurish. The fish pie lacked flavour and was about a third liquid. Asked waitress for half mash and chips - couldn't be done.Burgers were poor with a small bucket of chips.
Liam O'Riains is a traditional, unspoilt pub overlooking the River Shannon. It's the oldest pub in Ballina and it's one of those real old atmospheric bars with a cosy open fire, where people meet to chat and, perhaps, play cards. There's music too, with tra
Lovely pub, was welcomed by the Boss himself and told to go in to back room and get a good set for the match, there was a big screen there and a great view, everyone was very friendly, Locals and visitors alike, great pints of Guinness, athmosphere was electric, at 1/2 time the Boss came in with about 15 large pizza's for everyone to share, what a great gusture, Thank You ! really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend a visit, i know i'll be back soon.

On our second visit to Ireland we wanted to experience the Irish way of life in a local community. And in Ballina / Killaloe we found it, especially at the Brian Boru hotel in Ballina, what an amazing local pub. Great friendly staff, great service and great food. An extremely warm and welcoming atmosphere. Engaging hosts, Michael and Mairead were just simply charming and very generous. We ate here on a number of occasions and each time the food was wonderful, from the chowder, soup, mussels, fish, steak and roast lamb. Lovely place to relax, have a pleasant drink in good local company. Would highly recommend and would definitely return on our next trip to Ireland.

We arrived at the start of the Killaloe traditional music festival and the place was hopping! It is brilliant to experience Irish Friendliness at it's best in very traditional surroundings. There are more touristy places around but the Anchor wins hands down for the welcome you will receive. Even though she was up to her eyes in organistion of the groups the landlandy - Ann - still had plenty of time to talk to us. Bar staff were great too.

First the pluses. The food was decent - my guests particularly enjoyed the seafood chowder starter, and the serving sizes for the main course were generous, with two thick-sized slices of beef for the lunch (albeit a bit overdone but still generous). The customer service was a total let-down. We asked for a high chair for our young one but we were told that we couldn't have one because we didn't book one, and all the high chairs were reserved. But sure enough 2 of the chairs sat - empty and unused - on the empty reserved table right next to us for the whole 1 1/2 HOURS we were there. When I brought this up with staff, the in-charge doubled down and told us that they were reserved and still reserved even as we left. Now if this was a genuine no-show they could have simply explained and apologised. But if the chairs were still reserved 1 1/2 hours later then it just looks to me like poor table management.Worse still, I left the restaurant feeling as if the whole situation was my fault because I didn't book the high chair (maybe I should have booked knives, forks and napkins when I booked the table a few days prior...) and that I was an inconvenience to the staff. No empathy at all, and I was feeling worse leaving than when I came in - all in front of the family over for a weekend visit. No, I won't be inconveniencing Flanagans again.
