Just held a surprise party here for my dads 80th birthday. The whole staff team could not have been more accommodating and supportive. From the warm welcome they gave guests through to their willingness to make the event the best that it could be. Perfect venue, excellent buffet, reasonable priced drinks and fabulous service. Book your event or party whilst you can..once the secret is out you won't be able too!

Went for the fantastic value 2 course lunch for £8.95. Went with my wife, sister in law and son. Fish and chips better than any chip shop in town. Sausage and mash with proper butchers sausage and perfectly cooked fresh veg. Great food, fantastic service and a steal for the price. We will be back

A large group visited the beautiful and historic village of Geddington, viewing the church and Eleanor Cross - a must visit village. Afterwards, a number of us retired to the Star Inn for lunch. The staff were very obliging and the food was delicious. Our ham and cheese ploughmans lunch boards were enormous and very tasty. Friends were also pleased with their meals. There are several entrances and a number of different levels but it is quite possible for people with mobility issues to enter and dine on one level.

Classic country Pub/Restaurant, serving traditional food 12-14:30 and 18:00-21:00 Mon-Sat with very popular Carvery served 12-18:00 every Sunday. Large garden with childrenâs play area.
Four family members went here for a Sunday lunch and found it to be pleasantly located with a large well kept garden area. Lovely building, plenty of parking and good service apart fom a chap who I think was the owner constantly barking out orders to his team who were all working very hard. The food was in general on the good side of average and we all had the carvery which was nice with fresh veg brought separately to the table. One thing though is that when I asked what cut of meat the pork was I was told " no idea it just comes in a bag" I am an ex butcher and chef so this type of thing interests me and I think that a bit of knowledge of waht your are giving customers can be expected. We all had starters but the Feta saald that my wife had was - being kind - understated. Four cubes of Feta a lettuce leaf and two slices of tomato. A bit of red onion beetroot cucumber etc would not go amiss. In general a nice place to visit and reasonable food

After a desperately disappointing experience with another local pub, we tried the Axe and Compass out again after not visiting for a couple of years (fun fact: my husband proposed to me outside of this pub!), and we were really happy! Drinks are reasonably priced, plenty of comfortable spots to sit, nice ambience, friendly members of staff, and a very cute dog! What more could you ask for?!

We ate here one Saturday night. Atmosphere was lovely and the whole pub has a touch of class. However the menu is misleading. We ordered two burgers both with bacon and cheese. This took over an hour to arrive and they werenât overly busy either. On the menu it clearly states with âslawâ meaning coleslaw however when on arrival food did not have coleslaw. When I asked the waitress if she had coleslaw she said she would check with kitchen and apparently it doesnât. So why is it on the menu then?My burger also had a hard looking twig in it which I have uploaded a photo of. But besides that the burger itself was delicious and the chips were pretty damn good. Then dessert, both ordered creme brulee only to be told five minutes after ordering they didnât have it. Okay well that didnât bother me too much because I did like the look of the cheese board. However my cheese board that was meant to have crackers with it didnât. By this point I was too frustrated to even ask where my crackers were but what annoyed me most was the lady behind who claimed she was gluten intolerant and wondered if she could have bread instead of crackers got her bread fine, lots of it in a basket. Honestly that annoyed me more than anything. Yes I couldâve said something but why should I have to? Iâd already had to ask about coleslaw which apparently wasnât a thing! Itâs such a shame because before I ate, I thought how lovely the pub was and I didnât want to leave a review like this. I would come again because the quality of the food was really good and the atmosphere is pleasant and staff were friendly but honestly it seems like crucial condiments on the menu were ignored! Needs sorting as the place isnât cheap to eat at as it is, without missing things from the menu. The chefs need to take another look at the menu and sort their acts out!

Came here Tuesday lunch to have a catch up with friends whom I havenât seen in a while. We all ordered off the main menu everything was going smooth. UNTIL we never ended up getting a check back. Now I believe it states âno check back= free cakeâ well this was far from what we got offered. We asked about the cake and the âmanagerâ said âI believe my colleague checked on your foodâ if so... why wasnât the stick taken? We never had a check back at all! So again we asked about the cake he then stood there shrugged his shoulders and said âwe donât have any fudge cake to give out, I canât do anything about itâ so what happens if others donât get a check back would he say the same to other customers? I was truly disappointed with the way the âmanagerâ came across and dealt with the situation and how rude he was to all of us. Dear Guest,Firstly I would like to apologise for this visit and can ensure you that I will be looking into these issues immediately and I will be raising them at the next team meeting to ensure we can improve upon these issues.Kind Regards,

I was so impressed with the meal when I went the first time that I've been back four times since. The atmosphere and venue is amazing. The menu is wonderful with lots of selection and some really great food. I'm not really a salad person but their salads a definitely something I would choose. If you want a nice relaxing evening or something for a special occasion this is your place
