We dropped in for lunch over the summer on a walk from Warsash to Hamble. Ploughmans was superb - mmmmmm and bacon and brie sandwich delicious. It was very busy as it was a beautiful day but the staff were very efficient and kept everything running smoothly, well worth a visit!

The Navigator sits in a prime position opposite Swanwick Marina on the scenic River Hamble just outside Southampton. The nautical-inspired interior extends into the 23 individually designed modern bedrooms, all equipped with free Wi-Fi, en-suite bathroom,
The pub was recommended by local friends. The decor is costal and inviting plus the food was good rather than outstanding. The staff were extremely inattentive. After replacing one of the main courses they did not offer a pudding menu until asked. The food took a very long time to be served. We then had to attract someoneâs attention for the bill. They seem totally oblivious to the customers.Thank you for taking your time to leave us a review. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the food and will let Chef know. Apologies that your service was not up to our usual standard and I will pass on your feedback to the team, please do not think that this is our usual serving standard and I hope you give us another go in the future.

Whilst ordering at the bar, two people challenged their bill for extra items added on. They were rectified, When I came to pay the same thing happened to me,I got lots of Oh sorry my mistake,it was put right.Talking to a friend last night the same thing happened to them. Shame they try it on. The food and drink are real value for money great service and in a nice atmosphere.

3 of us returned here to see if there had been improvements since our last visit. One of us had jacket potato with tuna, very dry and no butter offered. One had sausage, mash and thick onion gravy and dessert that was okay. I had the senior meal for £6.99, 3 tiny chicken strips and dip as starter and then the tiniest portion of macaroni cheese I have ever seen! A 2yr old could eat more. It was very tasty and I added bacon to it, but really! Itâs a cheap enough meal to offer reasonable sized portions. Disappointed.Cannot see any improvement.

Great to see some serious investment in The Riser, tasteful fixtures and fittings following the recent refurbishment and it doesn't feel grubby the moment you walk in the door. Popped in for something to eat on the off chance there was a table available, lucky enough to be squeezed in so I would recommend booking if you don't want to be disappointed. The new menu is quite extensive, it would be useful if waiting staff could advise customers if there are any dishes that aren't available, my first two choices had run out (bean chilli and goat's tart), so I felt slightly under pressure to make a third choice as the waitress was breathing down my neck.Good to see the staff now wearing a uniform, they look so much smarter, just need a few of them to smile it would make such a difference to feel welcomed!I wasn't totally blown away by my visit but given the proximity to my home address, for convenience, I would return.Hi Kvj166, looks like we didn't meet your expectations when you visited us. If there is anything we could have done to make it better? Please get in touch and let me know using 01489 576898

Had lunch here outside on a relatively busy day. The setting is very good and there seem to be lots of efficient, friendly waiting staff. The food was very good but took over 30 minutes to arrive by which time we had reached the point of anxiety about it ever arriving. NZ Sauvignon Blanc was Ok, not great

Cute pub with nice atmosphere with lit fireplaces etc to make it cosy. Main hostess was abit abrupt when we checked if we could use Tesco clubcard vouchers before we got seated. Table was very wobbly, we bodged it with napkins to make it better. Waiter must of been new or this just wasnt a good career choice for him as he was not good at all. Forgot our jug of water 4 times, we watched him give the table next to us dessert menus and asked what they wanted when they werent even half way through their mains...was awkward to watch. Also took half hour to pay our bill, we got up and paid at the bar in the end as we got fed up of being ignored. Menu was pretty varied, i had the chicken kiev basket and chocolate fudge cake for dessert and both were fab. Everyone enjoyed their food, just service that let it down.

Unfortunately we had quite unpleasent experience in this pub: despite the reservation we had to wait 20 minutes, which would not have been a problem if the staff attitude was different. The staff was very unpolite: no one came to serve us and when I kindly reminded that we had a reservation the answer was: 'I am busy serving someone else now'. At that point we decided to leave and have dinner somewhere else. I am afraid I would not recommend it.

The Bugle boasts traditional oak beams, exposed brick and woodwork, oak tables and an open fire to keep you warm and cosy. And for those lazy summer days, we have a pretty terrace overlooking the River Hamble, perfect for drinking and dining while soaking
Although it was September we decided to reserve a table for 7pm, and it was just as well that we did as it was full when we arrived. We ordered various starters, drinks and mains. The servers were really helpful, and everything arrived reasonably quickly. The food was delicious! Despite previous reviews stating that the pies were small, both my brother and I ordered the steak and wine pie. This was a good sized individual pie on a bed of vegetables and with a large side serving of mashed potato. We would have loved to have tried the desserts, but were just too full after the first two courses. It is unlikely we will return to this area but I would certainly recommend it to anybody.
