Stayed here for one night over Easter. The room was very small, but facilities were clean. Ladies bathroom was very clean and shower had good water pressure. Nice crisp cotton sheets on the bed. Our room had the feeling that the building was not safe though - the floors were on a noticeable slope. I'd be surprised if it survived a decent earthquake. For me this was quite unsettling. So was sleeping where your feet felt slightly uphill from your head. Not bad for the great price we paid though.

Most locals reckon this is the best "roast dinner" restaurant in Greymouth, and they're probably right! It's a good idea to get there early most evenings as it's very popular and rightly so. A choice of at least two joints is on offer plus other dishes. pasta, and steaks cooked to order. I eat there twice in a week, roast pork first time, and a steak second. Both were first class with lots of veggies. This is not a de luxe venue but it's fine value and quality.

We stopped here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the standard of food. It was quick, hot, very generous portions and nicely presented. Excellent value for money. The beer was pretty good too. don't forget to pop next door afterwards and read the signage regarding the Labour party and Pike River mine.

Yes, absolute and utter guff. Snooty eye rolling waitresses and guff food. The waitress attitude to customers service was guff. The pints were wet glass flat guff, the food was over cooked guff and the final eye roll from a bratty waitress was guff. The most guff experience I have ever had in any restaurant.

The Paroa Restaurant is one of Greymouth's best kept secrets. Located on the outskirts of Greymouth, and very popular with the locals a wide range of dishes for all tastes. Our menu cater's for all ages, with an extensive children's menu.
Supper starts at 6:00 PM. We found this out only after arriving at 5:30. Grab a menu off the bar as you walk in, check it and the chalkboard for any daily specials especially what the âroast of the dayâ is. Go to the kitchen window to place your order. Pay then or start a tab. They give you a disc that buzzes when your order is ready for pick up. Grab cutlery and napkins from the salad bar. We found this out only after watching a couple of locals! With your main dish you can choose salad bar and chips (French fries) or steamed fresh veg. Restaurant is very clean, staff friendly and food very good. Seems to be very popular with locals and young seniors like us. Lots of free parking, 10 minute drive south from Greymouth, fully accessible.
