Newly refurbished and extended, the Kings Arms is a former coaching inn with 11 bedrooms serving fantastic food, beer wines and spirits.
Just been in tonight for dinner staff are badly needing trained in customer service terrible attitude and service tonight. Food we received was ok but certainly wasnât worth what we paid. Soup was liquidized down and the obvious water down could have put the portion into a mug. Main coarse was a pasta dish lovely flavors but honestly a mug shot had more pasta in it no offer of any side dishes at all and wasnât cheap. Unfortunately I wonât ever go back and certainly would not recommend to anyone sorry. There is far better places in Melrose and better value for money.

A family friendly establishment within the Wetherspoon estate serving amazing value food and drinks with great service and a welcoming atmosphere.
Last time we came here I reviewed and gave it one star....it was awful!! However, revisited last night and have to say whoever is managing the premises now has made a huge difference for the better. Service has improved 100%, no more filthy tables, glasses and plates cleared timeously too. Asked for an ice bucket for my wine and they didnât have any available as it was quite busy ..... but 20 mins later a female member of bar staff came over with said ice bucket! That wouldnât have happened 3 months ago!Only reason I havenât given it 5 stars is due to the temperature - it was very cold but believe theyâre having problems with the heating as a small fan heater was running next to the bar. Didnât make much difference though due to the huge high ceilings. We will be back! Well done. But please get the heating sorted - not nice sitting with your coat on!!

We were very hungry by the time we arrived in Melrose so we wanted somewhere reasonably priced that would serve quite quickly. There were a few people already in and waiting for food but they didnât have a long wait. We found the food prices reasonable but the drinks prices were more on the expensive side for what we ordered and have paid in most other places. The food was ok although nothing flash. Despite asking for the scampi and chips to be served with nothing else so âliterally just scampi and chips on a plate pleaseâ it still came with side salad and we were disappointed the chips werenât home made but the menu didnât say this so canât really complain about this. We were only passing through the area (I guess in the summer this is a lot of their trade) so not likely to visit again

From the outside the Harrow Inn looks like any other old-fashioned pub in any other old- fashioned street. Inside is the same (though renovations are coming soon) except for the menu. Our first instinct was 'this can't be right'. The range of beautifully cooked food and the value for money was literally astounding. Home made Lentil and Bacon soup followed by a steak was less than a tenner, and that was the most expensive dish. Service was friendly and prompt. All the food was freshly prepared and OAPs and Students were offered a two-course deal for a fiver. Under recently new management, this is an eatery which can only grow in stature. Day trippers ... head for the Harrow Inn

My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon here over 20 years ago. As I was in the area I decided to see if it was as we had remembered it. The restaurant was excellent and locals at the bar were friendly and happy to chat. Bed was not the best Iâve slep in but it was ok. The area is very quiet and a beautiful part of the country.

We wanted to eat out on our first night in Galashiels and this was the nearest restaurant (Hunters Hall was nearer but closed for renovations) and in fact was of similar style to a Wetherspoons. But without the menu range and quality normally found there.

Iâve never had a negative experience dinning at the Salmon! For purely selfish reasons the only thing i donât like is going out and up for the toilets! Great varied menu (although itâs tough to change from sticky chicken) huge portions, friendly staff and reasonably priced!
