We watched the dray men spend a couple of hours delivering new kegs in the afternoon, so you can imagine our surprise when at least two of the ales were 'finished' by 7pm. Judging by the surliness of the staff, they were probably too lazy to change a barrel. There were works leaving 'do's on so the place was busy and the background music was excellent. So, other than unfriendly staff we enjoyed the place.

Just off the harbour Near Duncan Square
Every dish we ate was excellent. Menu is far more than typical pub food. A bouillabaisse that could grace a high-end restaurant, at a price that suggests the ingredients came ashore on the boats you can see through the window. Fine selection of craft beers. Hope the owners donât read this but their prices donât begin to reflect the quality of the cuisine. Worth coming to Whitehaven just for this.
The barmaid had no idea about what she was serving. The real ale was opaque and she did not know what to do and there was no one she could ask for help. Not her fault - poor management! She even had to leave the pub to go and buy a bottle of lemonade. Nice modern decor but no atmosphere and other customers were rowdy and swore a lot. Hi, thankyou for your review. We are really disappointed you did not have a good experience in the blackbull. We did have a new member of our team start around the time you came in and we all work on our own in the pub. If she was un sure she could of called myself or my partner I am not sure why she did not do this if she was un sure. Our customers are generally locals who are well behaved and I am disappointed that the customers who were in did not show a good reflection of our lovely town. Your feedback is really appreciated and we can only do better next time. Thank you

Myself and two ex colleagues meet here one every couple of months. Great food provided by Norma the chef . Today we all had the fish and chip which were excellent. Great real ales on offer and the staff were friendly and attentive.

The Manor is a well situated, comfortable country inn, providing high quality food and en-suite accommodation. The 17th Century Inn serves a variety of real ales and is Cask Marque awarded. It also offers a private beer garden and a sports bar with a pool
Stayed at the Manor for one night before our Coast to Coast trip. Very friendly staff but rooms are tired and need an upgrade. Would probably try somewhere else if we went to St Bees again.Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you were not pleased with the standard of the room your were allocated. We do have four rooms that require the bathrooms to be updated which we hope to carry out during the winter months. I hope you are enjoying the Coast to Coast walk.

I had a good feeling about this venue from my telephone booking.4 of us got a friendly welcome and were seated at a nicely laid out table. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The choice on the menu was interesting and mouth watering. We all cleared our plates despite the portions being more than ample.I think because the plates were nicely warmed the food stayed hot.The desserts were gorgeous, a nice changes from the usual. All together we spent a really enjoyable evening with excellent service, food and reasonably priced drinks. If I had one complaint it would be the rather musty smell In the entrance hall due, probably, to the flooding the hotel suffured about two years ago..

I have just returned from eating at The Brook Inn tonight with my hubby Ronald and while I have never left a trip advisor review in my life, I felt as though I needed to as it was really lovely!!! (not really sure where terry199 gets cafeteria standard from - our meals were far superior to any cafe!!!)I chose the Black and Blue Burger, which was a very delicious beef burger with black pudding, melted stilton and onion rings on a burger bun. The flavours all complemented each other perfectly but what impressed me the most was the size of this thing!!! Absolutely massive and I'm convinced it was nearly the size of my head!!! It came with handcut chips, a salad and obviously homemade coleslaw ... yummy!!!!We arent from the area but if we ever find our selves this way in West Cumbria again we will call back in for more beef burgery goodness!!!
