Welcome to Café Vlissinghe, the oldest pub Bruges. Already since 1515, Café Vlissinghe is hiding in the beautiful Saint-Anne quarter. The unique atmosphere and the friendly ambience make Vlissinghe a favorite meeting place for Brugeans and for tourists fr
This ancient Bruges pub was pointed out to me on a bike tour of Bruges. I returned back and found it is well worth a visit. Historic is an understatement as we are talking about 4 hundred years ago. The inside is fascinating and the garden charming.I enjoyed my drink here, steeped in history. and highly recommend for pub lovers who also love history..

We walked past this place after getting off a nearby boat ride and returned to admire the impressive beer brand wall display. Then we noticed the hidden entrance and discovered a delightful bar with huge list of beers served and a beautiful shady terrace right by a canal. Lucky for us there was a table available and we spent an hour basking in the wonderful atmosphere. The bathrooms are situated outside the main entrance and down some steps, you first have to get a small plastic disc from a bartender to open the bathroom door. The bathroom counter is glass and has goldfish swimming inside.

On our first night in Bruges our B&B host recommended Cambrinus. We really enjoyed the walk to the establishment and, since we had a reservation, we had no problem getting a nice table. Our server immediately seated us, provided a menu and took our order, then we never saw her again. She spent the rest of her time drinking beer and chatting with the bartender. Fortunately, a young server brought our food and attempted to help. We ordered the Brewerâs menu and a flight of beer. The brewerâs menu is a starter (we chose the delicious Trappist cheese which is fried), a main course (we chose Flemish carbonnade) which was tender and absolutely delicious, and creme brûlée for dessert. We both liked the Bourgogne des flandres beer. Itâs dark and delicious. I also loved the cherry beer. Our biggest issue was with our non-existent server. Since dessert came with our meal, we had to wait a long time before we could get the young serverâs attention to ask when we would get our dessert. She had no idea we had ordered the brewerâs menu because she hadnât taken our order. But, since our original server was busy talking and ignoring us, we had no choice but to ask the young server who paid attention. We felt sorry for her. She was very hard-working. Wish we had gotten her name to sing her praises. The other lady we did not like at all. Had it not been for the non-existent attention of the original server, this would have been 4 stars.
