We visited for lunch on Friday 28th July 2017. This is a charming friendly very laid back pub with lots of character.Judging by the size of the menu it would seem that some of the food is pre-prepared, my steak pie was quite dry and would have benefited from some gravy. Nevertheless the quality of all 4 meals was satisfactory and reasonably priced. We would have liked our plates to have been warmed as my chips had gone cold before I had finished. We are dog enthusiasts and were happy to have dogs around the pub. However if you do not like dogs then this is not for you.

We popped in last Saturday early evening, we hadnât booked but just wanted a main meal and a pint. The lady serving was very helpful, found a table for us in the bar even though it was quite busy. My husband had the lamb cutlets and said it was the best lamb and dauphinoise potatoes he had ever had. We do pop in occasionally, the food has always been great, beer is well kept and great proper pub atmosphere. Highly recommend it.

Traditional local pub with restaurant in the heart of the beautiful Devon village of Kentisbeare. Real ales available. Large beer garden and barbecue shack . Families and dogs welcome.
Myself and a friend drop into this pub on a Saturday lunchtime, and Iâm glad we did. If you are looking for a traditional country pub then The Wyndham Arms is for you. The staff were very welcoming and entertaining and kept us amused all afternoon. The food is very good. I had the steak and it was cooked to perfection. I canât praise this place enough, it is reassuring that the traditional country pub is alive and well. Thank you so much for your kind review we like to pride ourselves in making our guests feel comfortable and welcome offering good food and service .We look forward to welcoming yourselves and your guest upon your next visit Kindest regards Graham

It is situated in the Blackdown Hills on the Devon/Somerset border. The pub has spectacular views as it looks across the Culm Valley. We offer outstanding food from the restaurant from our ever-changing special board and our menu. We also have a selection
Been several times with my partner and always enjoyed it. Interesting menu - not the normal pub grub (thank goodness) and always well prepared. Think there may be a problem at the moment while they find a new chef, but no doubt they will settle down again soon. Good choice of beers and gins but slightly disappointing wine list. No hesitation in recommending this pub.

What a brilliant pub! Perhaps slightly off the beaten track but well worth a visit. The staff are very welcoming, the service and the food are excellent. I had the smoked trout salad and the wife had liver & bacon, both dishes were delicious. Will certainly revisit when I am in the vicinity.

The George is a small village pub offering a warm welcome to all, our bar is stocked with 3 ales, 2 being local, local and regional gins and mainly local soft drinks. Located just 6 minutes from J27 off the M5 we are an ideal stop to break up your journey
Stopped on the way home from Cornwall and had the best meal. I cannot fault it at all. Lots of veg cooked well and not swimming in butter. The best roast potatoes. Beef was excellent and even the carrots tasted of carrots. Well worth a visit for food. 5 stars.

We went on a Saturday lunchtime in August and the pub was fairly quiet; however it still took quite some time of standing at the bar to get served drinks and no-one acknowledged us. We had the same problem ordering food too. Other tables were having to go up and ask to get their finished plates taken away and to order the next courses. It looked like there was one permanent member of staff and two new temporary staff who weren't old enough to do alcoholic drinks or cover payment, which meant that things were very slow indeed; that said no-one seemed in any hurry to make up for it with lots of standing around and chatting to the chefs.Otherwise it was fine - the food was good, big portions, excellent home-made pie. It was great to find a dog-friendly pub too.Outdoors was a really big eating/drinking area with a play area for kids. I have no idea how they'd have coped if there were more than about 10 tables in use...

Proprietors John & Lynn Bowen, Chefs Liam Sampson & Chris Phare and all the staff wish you a very warm welcome to the Merry Harriers. We have tried to create a warm, welcoming, traditional Pub atmosphere. We think a Pub should be a Pub - not a restaurant.
We arrived on a Tuesday lunchtime for a quick lunch with our daughter. The place was busy so we sat in the bar area and all ordered baguette for quickness. The bar staff were friendly but busy. Quick lunch?!!! We were kept waiting for just over an hour (no cooking involved) The baguettes when they finally arrived were average. The fillings we chose were chicken mayo, home cooked ham and bacon with brie. They were served with a few nacho corn crisps and a dressed salad garnish. I know it is only suppose to be a garnish but 2 mouthfuls and the salad was gone, same goes for the crisp. Not worth the wait and in my opinion not worth the price either (7.50)We are sorry you did not enjoy your visit but I do remember the day you came as we were overrun within a short space of time and we had one chef on holiday and one chef ill but we only had one table booked ahead and it was abnormally busy for a Tuesday lunch time so we did struggle in the kitchen. We do have to cook the baguettes to order and there has to be some priority for the table orders irrespective of what you are eating and if we had our normal staffing the service would have been a lot quicker. Having said all that we can only apologise and would not have wanted you to pay for food you were not happy with and would have not charged you on the day had we known the extent of your dissatisfaction.

We booked here for Fatherâs Day having heard good things. It exceeded my expectations. Every meal was delicious and the service was attentive yet relaxed and the setting informal. Everything was home-made with quality ingredients and you could taste the quality with every mouthful. The roast beef and gravy was amazing and the veg was perfectly cooked. The homemade meringues and coulis with the Eton Mess was amongst the best I have had. I literally couldnât fault the food and it was a perfect way to treat my dad. Thank you. We will be back.
