I live very near by but, always end up going to the Hare and Hound (sorry), my daughter and I decided to enter this lovely, warm and friendly pub. I sadly never knew it had a stream that runs underneath it. It was a lovely cosy pub with a few locals, mother were mince miss on the bar and service served with a smile. The other locals were friendly and chatty. We will definitely go back and try the food. Thanks staff happy New Year 2019

We are visitors to the area and driven past the pub on many occasions previously it looked a little shabby rather than chic, this year it’s been refurbished with New Management and looks more inviting so, we dropped in for evening meal. We were warmly welcomed by the new owners and had drinks in the bar while perusing the menu, the pub has a great local feel about it, a good choice of menu. The service was great and our food was excellent, the staff were friendly helpful and attentive without making you feel hurried. We had four different dishes cooked to perfection by their new chef and promptly served to our table. To summarise we enjoyed excellent food, excellent service, good value in a warm and friendly atmosphere and definitely recommend.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch here today. The staff were lovely and attentive too. We all shared a generous serve of pate to start our lunch and then we all had the roast beef. The beef was so tasty and render. The Yorkshire pudding was lovely and light with a wonderful flavour. The accompanying roast potatoes, mash, mixed veges were good too. The extra for the cauliflower cheese was so worthwhile. Such a wonderful meal.

Duke Of Wellington

We had to wait for 45-50 minutes for our meal to be served. The prices were high whilst the portions were small. The lemon orzo pasta salad in particular consisted of a small layer of rice-size pasta pieces with a large spiral of green nothingness. At £10.50, a rip-off. The waiter (Lorence) seemed to be running the restaurant single-handed and was clearly rushed off his feet. Judging by the delay in receiving our food, the number of staff in the kitchen presumably reflected the lack of staff at the front of house. This was our third (and, I'm afraid, last) visit to The Duke.Hi Gary I'm sorry that you were disappointed with your visit here to the Duke. It's only with feedback, that we can improve on the experience that we provide. I will pass on your comments regarding the portion size to our Catering department. If you would like to discuss your visit with me personally please get in contact at [email protected] RegardsBlair Malins

I visited the Victoria Inn last month for dinner with some friends, food was lovely, the curry had lots of flavour to it and wasn’t too spicy! Waiters were very polite and catered to our needs perfectly, it was a busy Saturday night and the waiters were rushed off their feet while the bar staff sat behind the bar on a laptop. I later heard her (I’m guessing it was the land lady) speak awfully to her staff and I was really unimpressed at how rude she was, most definitely wouldn’t want my child to be spoken to the way she was speaking to them.Thank you for your comments and pleased you enjoyed your meal with us.As you have been vague as to when you visited us, its hard to identify who was working that evening, however, its true to say that we run a very happy team, all of which are very much appreciated. What you must have overheard was a bit of friendly banter, as all staff work voluntarily and many have worked at this family run establishment for many years. Also, it is necessary to check dinner reservations as well as B&B reservations on line - which is a necessity for all successful business' in today's digital world.

A superb chance find providing welcome shelter from the howling weather one Saturday afternoon! The friendly, genuine service meant I was quickly seated in a cosy alcove with comfy seating and warm lighting. Moreover, the cheddar & salmon fish cake was highly flavoursome, as were the onion rings (crunchy too) and steaming hot latte. Overall I was really pleased with this random find – the service, food and ambiance formed a perfect triangle of goodness, comfort and joy. Thank you kindly!

They are friendly and professional but not pretentious in any way. That’s exactly how it should be Food was amazing. We went for the taster menu. Every course was tasty and the matching wines were well chosen. A fantastic evening and one we will remember for a long time. Thanks to the Hare and Hounds. Highly recommend

After a very warm welcome from Georgie, we were shown to our table. Everything lovely and clean. Food was lovely with no complaints from any of our party of Seven. Enjoyed drinks in the garden afterwards. Lovely pub and friendly staff. Home made gravy and light crispy Yorkshire puddings would have been a five stars. We will visit again even if it is a forty minute drive. Thanks again.
