We had heard they do locally bred duck which you had to pre-order, which we did for five of us. It was truly lovely and plentiful, half a duck each. Great selection of French wines and served by the French owner and cooked by the French chef. We will return.Thank you very much for your top comment. So glad you enjoyed it!Roasted Aylesbury duck is truly an exceptional dish, coooked to perfection by Philip. Between you and I he is from Tring in Hertfordshire! Having been married to a French woman for 23 years makes him nearly French though.

Good choice, great food, good service and caring staff. A local village hostelry with friendly atmosphere, our party of four were made most welcome. The menu was supplemented by extra choices and included vegan. Our excellent lunch was washed down with a âglass or two of redâ! Recommended.Hi and thank you for your kind review, I will also pass on your comments to our staff. We try to tweak our menu regularly to offer as wide a choice as possible whilst retaining the pub classics!. We look forward to welcoming you again soon.

This beautiful 18th century pub & restaurant serves freshly prepared food daily from Tuesday to Saturday plus a Sunday roast with several alternatives from 12 til 3pm Sunday's. Our steaks are cut from mature Hereford, American Rump or Aberdeen Angus beef
This popular local C18th village pub has a regular diary of popular themed events, so it is often worth checking what is on when booking a meal. The pub has a good range of pub grub on the menu, all at very reasonable prices. The beer is kept very well and the pub offers a range of really good bitters that cost £4/pint, as well as a very wide selection of gins! Being quite old, the building has numerous low beams, so tall people should take care. There is a good range of gluten free meals available, but vegetarians may find the menu a bit limited, unless they eat fish. The starters are £6-7 and are generally very plentiful - especially the baked camembert, which is to share! The warm duck salad is really good. Overall, the quantity of food as starters is very good and is almost as big as some other pub's main courses!Besides the main menu, there is also a selected range of specials on offer, also at a very good price. Most main courses cost up to about £15-16, but their steaks are £23-24, so there is big price gap here. Most main courses come with plentiful vegetables and accompaniments, but the streaks are only accompanied by one mushroom, one tomato and some watercress, although sides are available at an extra cost. Saying that, the steaks are about 8-10ozs and cooked to your choice. The liver can be recommended! Most main dishes can be ordered with (slightly!) reduced portions, as, with the exception of the steaks, the amount of food provided is plentiful and should satisfy most people's appetites! If you can face it, after wading through starters and a main course, there is a selection of traditional pub grub type desserts available, including a wide range of locally sourced ice-creams and sorbets; desserts cost £6-7 and are good value. The wine list is good and generally at very reasonable prices. One worth having is the sherry trifle, but whatever has happened to the traditional British desserts such as bread and butter pudding, spotted dick and other such delicacies!? Very few pubs do them any more!Children's menus are available and are about £6 eachUnlike some places, the restaurant area is adequately lit and the menu is printed in a sensibly sized font, so reading it was not a problem! The seating is well spaced, so tables are not on top of each other and there is good room to move between them - especially useful for people with limited mobility and/or wheelchairs. I was in a quite big party and we were on one of their larger tables; unfortunately it was a bit unstable, with the table top moving if you leant on one end - a bit like a Ouija board...! The chairs are not designed for comfort, but it is a pub after all - not a high class restaurant!Service was very attentive and quick, despite the restaurant being very busy and close to capacity.Overall, a really good and traditional local high Street pub that serves excellent food and very reasonable pricesThank you for writing us such a great review on your time here with us at The Bell, we pride ourselves on our food and service. We are so pleased your party enjoyed their meals. I will pass your comments on to all the staff and we hope to see you back at The Bell very soon, Kind RegardsNatilee

My daughter lives very close to this lovely pub and we decided to go for a meal with my elderly mother. We had the steak and ale pie which was delicious, the pastry was very good and the pie was full of good steak. We had triple cooked chips with our meal which were lovely too. Very good wine, atmosphere and lovely surroundings, we will definitely come and eat here again.

The Black Cat is a traditional family-run traditional public house steeped in History, It has cask marque real ales, maximum 5 scores on the doors kitchen and has gained the eat out eat well award promoting healthy eating.Good Beer guide 2009-present. Set
We had a terrific lunch in there today. Aside from the warm welcome we received from the landlady, it was a treat to peruse the lunchtime menu. As a coeliac, I was very well accommodated and the rest of my party were overjoyed by both the portion sizes and the quality of the freshly prepared meals. We shall definitely return soon.Happy New Year to you all, and thankyou for taking the time to write a review of The Black Cat, always lovely to meet new customers into our little country pub. Coelliacs never a problem, we have a coelliac member of staff in the kitchen too. Look forward to seeing you again

This is my dad's favourite pub to eat, so I've been quite a few times for big family birthdays etc. over the last few years, and the food is consistently good. Large portions, tasty and good value. A mix of local and national ales compliment the food, eg Tring Brewery's Side Pocket - an excellent session ale. There are plenty of outside tables for when the weather allows, and a decent sized car park. The decor is nothing spectacular, just normal pub not trendy gastropub - you come here for the food and drink.

Nestled in the beautiful market town of Chesham, The Lazy Pig in the Pantry is open 7 days a week serving a seasonal menu alongside Josper oven cooked steaks, wood-fired pizzas and hearty Sunday Roasts.
Average at best. Boring food, grumpy service. Young chap at the bar was helpful and charming tho. I was exploring for Christmas party possibilities, but not up to scratch, I'm afraid.Hi ktplondon, Im sorry that your experience was not up to our usual high standard Thanks for taking the time to give us some feedback, seems on this occasion we missed the mark I would like to find out a little bit more information so that we can learn and grow from your experience. If you would like to drop us an email to [email protected] Kind RegardsJessica

Popped in for a beer and a bite to eat with a mate after work. Place was warm, friendly, good beer and had a delicious steak and kidney pie. The only thing wrong was it was empty and I couldn't understand why. Super little boozer with good unpretentious food, very welcoming and two excellent pints of TT Landlord and Tring Side Pocket. I would not hesitate to return but Chesham & Ley Hill-ites.. use it or lose would be my call.

In heart of the community. This traditional ale house and unique Thai restaurant is the epitome of a great country pub. The lovely old building oozes charm and class, while attentive staff deliver a warm welcome, excellent real ales and superb Thai food.
We can in for the express lunch and really enjoyed this quaint little pub. Loads of history on the ways with photos from the early 1900s. The Thai lunch was excellent would recommend the jungle curry - nice and warm. We also ordered a pad Thai which was good. Only thing we could fault was place was quite chilly - keep your coat on but curry warmed us. If you love Thai this is the place!

Your classic country pub, lovingly restored. Large beer garden to the rear, traditional nook with fireplace inside. Originally built in the 18th c so beware the low beams ! The pub is open 12pm to 11pm Tuesday to Saturday, Sunday 12 till 10.30pm cask ales
Nothing pretentious about the pub, run by a lovely couple, kept like a proper pub. Good honest food, good honest drinks and welcoming to all. Family friendly, kids welcome, large garden with play toys for children. Don't be expecting 5 star cuisine, its honest and hearty
