We were making a pilgrimage East and stayed in Liverpool on our way. Looking over the area dining options, The Retreat caught our eye. This venue has been popular, operating in Liverpool for some forty-five years. Although remodeled across the years, the restaurant pub retains links to its roots with its lodge-style appearance. They have a large free parking lot adjacent. They have a couple areas of inside seating as well as a large outside patio, which includes a separate outside bar wherein live entertainment is offered. They have a quite extensive menu that includes Appetizers, Soups & Salads, Sandwiches, Burgers, and Beef, Poultry & Seafood Entrees. I had made up my mind that seafood would be my choice, before we even arrived. We chose outside seating, as the weather was beautiful. The view from the patio is nothing special, however, being outside on a nice day is always our choice. Our waitress was quite nice, friendly and efficient. Even on a Wednesday evening, The Retreat was quite busy. I will say our service was not the speediest, but we were in no rush to be anywhere else. We started with beverages and I had (& enjoyed) a dozen Steamed Clams. My other half chose the Vegetable Quesadilla (asparagus, roasted peppers, mushrooms, Asiago cheese, artichokes and spinach stuffed into a grilled tortilla with Monterey Jack cheddar and diced tomatoes, served with salsa and sour cream). She raved about this quesadilla, the vegetables were packed into a delicious shell and the size was huge. She frequently opts for quesadillas when we go out. This was one of her top two favorites ever. In my case, I continued my seafood theme with their Boston Harbor Bay Haddock (fillet of fresh Atlantic Haddock, carefully broiled with a lemon Dijon panko crust, cradled on a bed of New England clam risotto) and a side salad. The "side" salad was huge, with fresh, crisp greens and vegetables - excellent. The Haddock and the risotto continued the theme of very large portions. In fact, as we had watched our sandwiches and entrees served to those around us, the definite trend was large, great looking portions. The clam risotto was spectacular, rich and creamy with nice pieces of clam throughout. In fact, the risotto was only surpassed by the excellent Haddock filet, which was perfectly cooked. My spouse and I could not have been happier with our dining choice. If we did not live so far away, we would easily return here frequently as their menu had so many intriguing choices. We hope to have a future opportunity to dine here.

This Irish bar in Tippararty Hill is the real deal. Fantastic atmosphere, great menu and fabulous food. Dont know what an Irish pub looks like in Ireland but this is what my mind pictures. The beer selections are tops.

"The Irish Pub You've Been Training For"... Where the Craic of Ireland meets the heart of Downtown Syracuse.
I had been here a couple of times before including on St Patty's Day (in the morning) so with a friend decided to drop in as many other bars were quiet in Armory Square, possibly because of the rain but then again, Syracuse nightlife and crowds are difficult to predict. The bar was filled (not packed) with a good crowd of people engaged in talk, drinking, eating and enjoying the live entertainment. My friend wanted something unusual to drink as he doesn't like beer so the bartender (Jimmy) obliged and whipped up a nice Irish Cream concoction that set the mood for my buddy to enjoy more as the night progressed. Its a nice friendly place, clean with a great assortment of Irish whiskeys and other liquors and at reasonable prices. Add in live entertainment and you have the perfect mix for a great night out.Malcolm, all of us at Kitty Hoynes thank you for your review and news of your great experience. Jimmy is great behind our bar, always happy to please and forever creating great experiences for our guests. We are glad you saw our vast Irish whiskey selection and enjoyed our live music in a friendly atmosphere. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Yours Sincerely, David

We go to Tully's at least once a week. The staff could not be nicer and the food is always hot and good. The chicken wings and tenders are my favorite but the Mile high meat loaf is also very good. The bartenders work extremely hard as do the servers. Katie, Meghan and Emily do a great job behind the bar and Sara seems to be running it all. She works so hard and odes it right. Allen one of the manager that I think lives there is very friendly and asking if everything is alright and are you enjoying yourself. He always thanks you for coming in. This really is a fun place to eat and drink.

Outstanding menu, service and quality. Great sports bar ambiance. We ordered the meatloaf and jerk chicken. Meatloaf came with real mashed potatoes and was very tasty. Jerk chicken was a nice spice level and a large portion. Very good. Super beer and drink menu. Will be back and bringing our grandchildren. Four thumbs up.

Call this a Thursday-only review. That's the night they feature sauerbraten and other German dishes. Both of ours were delightful! This night also features live jazz musicians. I'm glad we were seated in the dining room and not the pub where the band played because of the loud noise it generated. But all in all, including decent service, I can't complain about good sauerbraten at a decent price with live jazz thrown in!

Casual, family friendly and fun. 10+ big screen TVS, outdoor beach volleyball court
So, as a chronic reviewer I was hoping for a more positive review for a change.....and The Wildcat let me down. We ordered food from there delivered, so I can't speak about the interior cleanliness of this business etc. but I will review the food. To start, delivery time was slow. From the time of order to delivery took an hour. I live a mile or so away so I wasn't impressed to start. I ordered buffalo tenders and the tenders were lukewarm at best. The only thing hot was the buffalo sauce. The potato "things" that came with the tenders looked like spirally sliced potatoes and were cold and mushy. I also asked for extra buffalo sauce and extra bleu cheese and not only did I not receive extra buffalo sauce but received absolutely no bleu cheese whatsoever. (Buffalo tenders without bleu cheese? What normal person eats buffalo tenders without bleu cheese??? ;) Now on to my wife's meal. She ordered chicken riggies and what she received wasn't even close. First off, the pasta wasn't even rigatoni and the sauce was more of a red spaghetti sauce rather than the usual, creamy chicken riggie sauce. (Who sells something described as chicken riggies but doesn't even use rigatoni? Seriously?) She also stated that it was very bland and the chicken was hard and rubbery. So, with my hopes of a positive review now dashed to pieces I must say that I can not recommend the food at The Wildcat......especially delivery.

We stopped in on a Friday early evening around 5:30 PM. Were seated promptly. The bar area was filling up fast. Very friendly service. Loved the classy blue wine bottle filled with ice water. Enjoyed happy hour drinks very reasonably priced. Started with the Brassiere Greens for an appetizer. They were good certainly not the best we've ever had. Enjoyed the fresh slices of Parmesan on top. Had a kick to it. Hubby and I got the panko fried haddock meal with coleslaw and instead of the macaroni and cheese we chose the healthier tomato and cucumber salad. Enjoyed the fresh dill on the salad. Would love to have a more flavorful coleslaw. It was a bit too dry. The haddock was excellent. I loved the modern, clean atmosphere. By time we got up to leave there was quite a crowd waiting to be seated for dinner. We will be back to try other entrees.

Whenever we are in the Syracuse area, this is a favorite place to stop! We love the atmosphere, cocktails, servers, and certainly the variety of excellent options for a quick bite or something more substantial. We always have the Italian egg rolls and my husband LOVES the French onion burger! They have a great deal on gift cards right now too! That gift will certainly be a hit becuase everyone we know loves the place!
