This was my second drop in on a recent flying visit to Shropshire. Having lived locally for a number of years, this was a real nostalgia hit and I'm really pleased to report that nearly everything was as I remember.The Kings Arms is a large tall, imposing building, located at the top of the main street in Bishop's Castle. It's not the smartest place I've been to, but it has bags of character with open fires, excellent ales and good quality food. The bar is busy with locals who are friendly and love a bit of banter and it was great coming back here.My only disappointment was the garden which has undergone a lot of change since I was last there some 20 years ago. It seems nothing stands still these days, but I'll be back again, and sooner than 20 years.

Spent an evening here, using the pods as accomodation.Spent time in the pub, brilliant service, lovely staff., lovely customers, lovely beer.Everything about it was brilliant.The bar maid in attendance was awesome too, sadly have forgotten her name.

We had a very good meal at The Boars Head. The wines were excellent. The menu had a good choice and at reasonable prices. I had the choice of several Gluten free options and the fish and chips I chose were delicious. The pub is very historic and has a lovely small restaurant and cosy bar. The lady serving behind the bar and in the restaurant was friendly and efficient. All in all we enjoyed our visit very much.Thank you for your review

Nice friendly pub, situated in the lower end of town, down opposite the church. Always enjoy whatever beer I choose on each occasion. Lots of friendly locals it seems.Occasionally had a buffet there courtesy of the local choir and the food has been delicious.

We nearly didn't try The Castle due to the previous two poor reviews, so we we were very pleasantly surprised. I can't fault, the standard of food, the service and surroundings. Although we ate inside, the gardens are well worth a look. We thought the food was of a very high standard and obviously home cooked.

Great ambiance from the moment we walked in. Friendly staff. Fab selection of Gins!We sat in the cosy bar and ordered our food. I had a hummus plate which was lovely served with tasty olives and warm pitta. My friend had the camembert which looked gorgeous, served with roasted garlic and warm baguette. I would never usually order a burger but had heard how great they were. I was not disappointed!! It is so refreshing to have homemade chips, onion rings and slaw. The burger was succulent and tasty. Food came in good time and was served by a friendly waitress. We have never been to the three tuns before but will definitely return!!!

The only regret was we could only stay one night, great place from which to explore the lovely Shropshire countryside. The evening meal menu is very good and the breakfast is equally good. Bedroom and ensuite spotlessly clean and modern, lovely ale and very friendly landlord and lady and staff, we were in a bedroom above the bar but the landlord keeps to the licensing closing times so were not bothered by late night chatter !We will return.Thanks for sharing your experience. Youâre right too...you definitely need more than one night to explore all that our countryside has to offer!Hope to see you again soon to enjoy more of Shropshire and of course, our hospitality. This restaurant stands out from the crowd in rural Shropshire, where many of the eateries serve enormous portions of burgers, chips and pies. Here all the dishes we ordered were refined - more like nouvelle cuisine - with small but very tasty portion sizes. The restaurant is off the beaten track though easy to find, and it seems like it used to be a pub in the old days, with one area converted to comfy leather sofas where you can sip your G&T and study the menu, and the rest set out with spacious tables. The menu is limited to a few options per course, but changed every month, which I think is an excellent alternative to the usual extensive menus where you know not everything could possibly be fresh. I had asparagus as a starter - could have eaten more but it was good - while my husband had crab. I then had a superb fillet steak where he had lamb. We shared a dessert. With a couple of beers and 3 glasses of wine, the bill came to just over £100. Fine dining doesn't come cheap but if we were local we would come back now and again.Dear JoanK, Thank you for your very positive review. We're glad you enjoyed our food, menus and our restaurant. It did indeed used to be an old village pub which had been closed for a while when we bought it. As you've rightly pointed out there are plenty of places competing for the largest portions at the cheapest prices so we wanted to do something a little different. We wanted to celebrate the best of the incredible seasonal produce that surrounds us and serve it in an unpretentious atmosphere by passionate people.
