Real ale tavern in heart of historic Bewdley. Twelve hand pumps and wide variety of ales and ciders. Owned by Black Country Ales.
Last Sunday we walked along the river as a family with the dog from Stourport to Bewdley. Weâve used this pub a few times as a couple but on this occasion we had our son who is almost 19 and daughter nearly 16 with us. We walked in the only table free was right at the back of the pub which was fine. Took our coats off and asked the kids what they wanted to drink and went towards the bar. We were met by the landlord who politely asked us to leave saying no children are allowed. We have been to many pubs and our very quiet daughter is almost 16 so although we hadnât seen the notice we donât really think of her as being a child sheâd have sat quietly in the corner with a glass of Diet Coke. Iâve since been told itâs no children under 14 Iâm not sure if that is correct or not. We went round the corner to The Mug House and we were welcome there. We are sorry about that. It is a pub with an adult only clientele, Iâm afraid, but we understand your thoughts.

Came here for Sunday lunch my husband and I had the beef and my daughter had the turkey, we were also sold the cauliflower cheese as an extra but it came out as broccoli cheese because they didnât have cauliflower so we sent that back. We found all meals were not hot enough and we did comment on that whilst at the restaurant. The beef was chewy and the turkey was dry and for my teenage daughter to say that it must of been really dry as she loves her food being a typical teenager. The vegetables were okay but we couldnât figure out if they were fresh or frozen because they were quite bland. The Yorkshire pudding would of been the best if it was actually hot and the best part today was the roast potatoes. The prices were reasonable for a Sunday roast but I must be honest Iâve had better Sunday roasts in your typical carvery restaurants which at times can be dodgy themselves. Iâd pay a bit more and go somewhere else that serves better quality Sunday roasts. The restaurant deco itself was lovely and the staff were okay the drinks took quite a while to arrive and the restaurant was quiet so I canât imagine how theyâd manage if it was full. We wonât be going back. Hi Christinebg8631tp, your feedback is extremely disappointing, and I'd really like to speak to you to discuss it further. Please can you get in touch when you have a spare moment 01299 402161 Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we can improve. We hope you will consider us again in the future. Take care.

We went for a long muddy dog walk in the Wyre Forest and did wonder if it would be open at this time of the year. It was and we had a wonderful filling lunch of turkey and ham pie with soup to start. We sat by the log fire and were the only customers as we arrived after two. It was great and just what we needed. Thoroughly recommended Thank you for your review Staffspublover. We're glad you had a pleasant visit.

We had one of the tastiest Sunday roast lunches ever ! Plenty of different vegetables, nice crispy roasties, choice of 3 meats - turkey, beef or pork or all 3 ( thick slice of each ) for same price. Adult £8.95 or small adult ( 2 slices neat) for only £7.45! Thereâs also a cheaper childâs size on offer. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly efficient staff in a traditional country pub. This was our second lunch there in recent months and both excellent!

Dined here today for lunch, i have to say that I haven't got a problem with dogs in pubs, but I'm sorry in my opinion dogs in restaurants are a no no. For almost two hours today we had to endure a yapping dog belonging to the people on the table behind us whilst we ate our lunch. Onto the food I had the cod and chips and to say that the fish tasted strange is an understatement. It was awful, whether it was cod is questionable. I also had a pint of Butty Bach and that was dire as well. All in all not a pleasant experience and I for one will not be rushing back to the Button Oak anytime soon.

Local reviewer, visit here once a week with my wife for our âStart the weekend right with a pie and a pintâ,always love the ale, sofas, snacks and generally nice ambience.Until last Friday....Short changed by a then ignorantly rude bar person I had a quiet word outside with the manager to express my concern,no probs. However, upon leaving some Local Hero accosts me in the car park in a very threatening manner and tells me the police are on their way (?!!?),that I should âleave my car there in the car parkâ,yeah, sure mate,whatevs....probably her inbred half-brother,guy was totally mashed on too much bank holiday sun and sauce,I guess.Anyhow, left a sour taste in my mouth, not sure Iâll bother going back when the choice of alternatives in the area is so good. Shame though,I really do like their Wyre pies.......

Nestled on the Worcestershire and Shropshire borders alongside the river Severn sits the picturesque town of Bewdley, known for its Georgian architecture and quaint black and white cottages, with stunning Riverside frontage. Alongside the seemingly tranqu
Lovely location but sadly it ends there.By 4.20pm this Sunday afternoon they had run out of a number of quite standard ingredients. To be quite honest, if they can't replenish simple ingredients they are either bone idle or incompetent. We dined elsewhere at an establishment that were clearly passionate about their business.

Good food as always, I've been for my birthday and other occasions, and always around 10 ish at night the staff start hovering to clear away and take payment , no problem, but if you are still chatting and want another drink, we have had to scrap around for cash, as staff have cashed up!! My friend who is all in the pub/restaurant trade, could not believe what she was witnessing, as she said " whilst there are customers willing to pay, why the early cashing up, even before the 11.00 pm licence law " - once again this happened last week. Friends I tell are amazed and are put off. Such a shameHi JulieTshropshire. Thank you for your lovely comments regarding the food, we take pride in the food we offer. I thank you for raising the comments about the 'cashing up' and will be investigating this issue as I was not aware. Please be reassured that this will be dealt with and shall not arise again. May I request in future that you contact myself at the pub and discuss this directly rather than post on here.Much appreciated.
