Attended sky bar and was thoroughly impressed with the atmosphere, Decor and service. The food was excellent, especially the variety of seafood and the grilled prawns in particular were large as exceptionally tasty. The view was very good and the band complimented the atmosphere nicely

There's been some mistake in this review and photo. Batakan Beach Club (BBC) is different from Beach House( in here they call it Batakan Beach House). They are only 3miles away from each other. Batakan beach Club or BBC is a fine dining restaurant. The photo shows wood table and chair with bar and billiard table(pool). Flags from country around the world is hung around the bar. The food is very recomended with great service. The interior looks very masculin. Lots of expats dine here for lunch n dinner. The view out side the resto is average. You only can look at the plain sea with no tree or coral sand! You even cannot reach the sea because it is closed with bar fence. ( find Beach House to see my review about it)

Joy's Bar, well known to the Expat community in Balikpapan had a refurbishment last Ramadan and has a kitchen capable of producing food for eating as a snack with drinks, or sitting down for a meal in their partitioned dining area.They offer a variety of foods, Indonesian, basic Western foods and bar snacks.Do not order food expecting an authentic style of food, as an example, the pizzas are not like you would find in Italy, but they are thin and tasty, great after a few beers to satisfy the munchies.Several people have commented and I tend to agree that the burgers served at Joy's are the best burgers in Balikpapan.Most nights, there is a band playing until the early hours.It is busiest on Friday and Saturday nights, Saturday is often a themed party.It gets busy after 22:00When visiting Balikpapan (especially at the weekend), visit Joy's, there is always someone to talk to and the beer is always cold.
