We booked to go for a meal after visiting Alton Towers....It was quite early 6pm as we had two small nieces with us.The meals were ordered and our food was inedible the starters of Camembert was over cooked with no filling inside, the tomato soup tasted liked curry. The mains were bought to my nieces and they were tasteless with thick stodgy gravy and charged too much. My scampi was burnt to a crisp the chips were wedges with skin on over cooked,my sister had the seafood platter which was also burnt and dry.We travelled over 150 miles to eat rubbish the gravy was gross, it was notcheap over £100 +I would never recommend this place ever............

The Rose and Crown is a friendly village inn where we pride ourselves on serving restaurant food at realistic prices. Our menu changes frequently with a focus on freshness, flavours and quality seasonal fare. These can be accompanied by our varied selecti
Booked a table here on the strength of the TA. reviews and so pleased we did. Accomplished cooking from starter through to dessert for three satisfied customers.Class in the detail like the addition of herring to a smoked fish salad, delicious. The addition of leek to the mash potato and the horseradish to the ox cheek again delicious. The homemade vanilla ice cream was top quality. A foodies' delight this pub and friendly service, whats not to like.Dear Sheepclan,Many thanks for the taking the time to write us such a lovely review! We are very lucky to have such great feedback on TripAdvisor. Our team work really hard to maintain the high standards we set ourselves so it's always good to know that we are living up to expectations. Fabulous couldn't fault a thing. Lovely chilled out atmosphere, sat in the beautifully kept garden with a wine. Very well mannered n sociable waitress came and took our order. Ate inside spotlessly clean as always. Burgers arrived couldn't have been better best I've had for a long time. A really top night for a cheeky date night. Would highly recommend.

The Duncombe Arms Pub is a delightful setting in which to enjoy a drink, some lovely food and a chat. Youâll have the ambience of a roaring log fire and enjoy choosing from a great range of beers, a varied and interesting selection of wines and all your f
Saturday lunch with friends, and someone had recommended the Duncombe Arms. What a find. A lovely building, beautifully decorated. The staff were welcoming and efficient. The food was lovely. We mixed between brunch menu and lunch menu, resulting in odd combinations, but that didnât matter. Delicious. Highly recommended.

We're a well established 4 generation family run restaurant and pub, who are passionate about serving good beer with tasty food. Our portions are generous but most importantly full of flavour.
Ate here as a couple after a long day at Alton towers. Seems to be a lovely, atmospheric pub, but unfortunately let down by the extremely slow service! Hubby and I ordered burgers, which were pleasant, but they took nearly 40 minutes! There was only one other couple in the dining area when we arrived (another couple entered and were seated just before our food arrived). The waitress, although pleasant, was on her phone in the corner for most of the time, and looked thoroughly bored. Food was ok, but arrived on a "trendy"? stainless steel dustbin lid (?!) which actually made it very difficult to use the cutlery supplied with it, as the lip of the "plate" (lid) was very high. All in all, an ok meal but we wouldn't go back, not least for the delay in the service.

We are a family-friendly, traditional 16th century pub and restaurant with a contemporary twist situated near Alton Towers and on the very edge of the Peak District. Recently under new ownership and re-furbished to a very high standard, we hope the welcom
Loved this little place on our way back from Alton towers & wished we had our dinner there the day before rather than stay at the hotel at Alton towers at the secret garden restaurant.

A 1700 built coaching inn, situated on the high street in Alton, Staffordshire. We specialise in stone baked pizza's, steaks, craft beers and live music. Our recently refurbished restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere with a cosy log burner and comfy seat
Needed a break from the food at Alton Towers and read the reviews, decided to ignore the negativity and very glad I did too!Food was fantastic, service attentive (even though we were in the upstairs room), and the atmosphere was really positive from all the staff. If you are staying at Alton Towers and need a break from chips, chips and more chips then I cannot recommend the Bulls Head highly enough. And if you like chips, well they do them too!

A warm and welcoming traditional village pub, bed & breakfast and Coffee Shop owned by the Alton community. Situated in the heart of Alton Village, only a mile away from Alton Towers and close to the beautiful Churnet Valley. We have a choice of three com
Lovely little pub, serving a decent range of real ales and wines. Really warm welcome when we turned up, and the landlord did everything he could to find us a table for food on a very busy evening.Food is great, and itâs unusual to have a Thai restaurant attached to a pub. Beautifully cooked and served, and weâll certainly be back again based on this first visit.

Myself and my husband stopped off here twice for dinner while staying locally for our trip to Alton Towers. Place was easy to find and had parking which was handy! Staff were welcoming and we were able to walk in with no booking. The food was great and reasonably priced. Good choice of items on the menu but we both picked the steak and ale pie twice because it was so good, the portion size was huge but defo not complaining!

The Yeaveley Arms stands proud in the centre of the village of Yeaveley opposite the village church. Taken over by three local guys in August 2017 who aimed to bring the pub back to life after it being closed and left dormant for four years! Yeaveley Arms
This was our first time here. I have to say on a rainy day itâs a terrible journey to get here ,but thatâs no fault of the pub We were seated very quickly drinks order taken. We settled for the traditional Sunday Lunch. Although the place was not full we had to wait 40 minutes for our food to arrive. Now thereâs waiting and thereâs waiting ,I do feel this was a bit extreme, five minutes before the food arrived the waitress told us our food was on the wayThe meal was very good the beef tender the veg still had a bite. All in all a very pleasant atmosphere ,friendly staff just donât be in a hurry . Yes we would call again
