Living just a mile from this restaurant we have visited twice. The ambience is very traditional and welcoming, and on both occasions i found the majority of the staff friendly and efficient. There is a huge choice on the menu as well as specials at very reasonable prices. On our first visit, a Wednesday evening there was no issues and our party of 4 all enjoyed a good quality and tasty 3 course meal. Brilliant food and great service. No complaints! On the second occasion, Saturday evening, 2 of our party of 4 ordered the salmon to which both sent back due to sauce being cold. After being returned, one of them was still cold and was sent back. One of our party made a joke about putting it in the microwave, to which who i think was the manager came over and got quite irate about microwave usage in their restaurant. I felt we were being shouted at, and at that point, i did have the urge to pay and walk out.We never complain ever about food and put up with most things, however the dish in question was around £15 and we expected better. We were not prepared to accept the heat of the sauce and the get shouted at. Maybe we just interpreted the actions of the manager as just exuberant and passionate about his produce, however i would have expected a more professional attitude better customer service.I did really get the impression on our second visit (with our Yorkshire accents) that were perceived as passing tourists on our way back from a day at the seaside and they most likely would never see us again so could be a little rude.We live in Withern the next village, and was really looking forward to having a traditional country pub on the doorstep to regularly use. However after the second experience, we wont be returning.

Our traditional country pub is located in the village of Welton le Marsh, just 1.4 miles from Gunby Hall, close to the towns of Skegness and Spilsby. Run by owners Sue and Nick, The Wheel Inn prides itself on serving a range of well-kept ales and quality
Yesterday I had the pleasure of trying one of the new hand-made pies at The Wheel Inn. I chose the Brie, cranberry and mushroom to take away, and I was certainly not disappointed. Genuinely one of the best pies Iâve ever had. Will be coming back for another soon!Hi AdamStokes30Thank you for your kind review. It's nice to hear feedback on new ventures that we are trying out and hope the new pie night (coming soon) will be as popular as our other themed evenings. Keep up to date on our Facebook & Instagram feeds for upcoming details. It'd be great to see you again, and once again, thanks for the review!

Had Sunday lunch the other week. The proprietor is very odd. We asked for an ash tray so we could smoke outside and then proceeded to lecture us on the evils of smoking and produced a coal scuttle half full of water full of cigarette ends disgusting and plonked it by our table the beef was not cooked the broccoli you could not even cut with a knife it was so not cooked this place not to recommended for sunday lunch such a shame because the setting is to die for

I local pub that provides home-cooked pub food and real ales. Friendly atmosphere children welcome.
Visiting Alford and popped in for food accompanied by the dog. What a welcome - friendly landlady, good range of drinks, offered water n biscuits for the dog whoâd settled by the fire within 5 minutes! So onto the food- good range of pub food on menu, clearly freshly cooked on site from information given on options - ordered chicken and lamb shank and both were great. Tasty and all promptly eaten. Pub not too busy and good to sit and relax here. Visited again 2 days later for drinks only - same great welcome for both humans and canines! What a lovely pub, shame we donât live closer !

We visit Scarborough a couple of times a year and went for 2 nights over New year. We booked a meal in an Italian just a few yards away. We called in for a drink prior to our meal and then returned afterwards. It was very friendly with great service. Full as you would expect on a new years eve but comfortable. The greatest part was the music, anything you wanted or requested to the DJ or owner as he was. So much so we are going back this year.PS. WOULD LOVE THAT SCOOTER BEHIND THE BAR.ON MY BUCKET LIST.

We were visiting my father in law and came here for Sunday lunch. We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome. The menu choice is vast and covers most needs. Our food arrived quickly and was well presented and all served hot. There was plenty of food on everyoneâs plate. The Sunday roast, I had beef, was delicious and served with a variety of vegetables. It tasted fresh and home cooked.

Paid a visit early July n a night they had a steak deal where you can get a free bottle of wine, so why not we thought. When we requested steak to be cooked medium the bar lady looked at me a little bemused and said the chef cooks it and that's it. Anyway the steak was over cooked which made it dry, the rest of the meal was very good. Then it came to the wine, the choice was red or white so I asked what type of red wine it was only to be shown a bottle from under the counter that had no description. The red wine provided was just not drinkable so we left 3/4 bottle behind.Solution: why not offer an alternative even if an extra contribution needs to be madeso say for an extra £5.00 you can have a bottle of wine that is pleasant to drink. The place is very friendly and had a pleasant atmosphere.

Recently taken over by Dave and Ann Scott Village pub selling great home-cooked food with a range of Batemans cask ales. Food is served from 12noon until 7.30pm! Dog Friendly
We went to chapel for a day at the beach and wanted somewhere nice to eat tea after. We found this place through trip adviser. When we arrived it looked nice on the outside. A garden and park for the kids. The reviews looked good too. Sadly it all changed after that. When we walked in and found a table we noticed there were loads of flies everywhere inside. There was fly tape hanging from the ceiling. We decided to move to a table outside on the garden away from all the flies. It was disgusting. We ordered food and first they had run out of pizza for the kids which caused a proeblm. Then when they brought the food out they got some of it wrong. The food was terrible. To expensive for cheap frozen rubbish. And again flies everywhere. They even had big fly traps right outside the doors of the place. So they must have some issue with the rubbish or something as Iâve never seen so many flies even in this heat. As we left I overheard the old women clearing our table muttering âthere are some animals out thereâ which I found to be directed at my family and very rude. I also saw her walking about with a cigarette hanging from her mouth. The staff didnât seem very nice at all. The toilets looked clean but around the taps was a build up of dirt. So sad as it did look a nice place. I would look elsewhere and not be deceived by other reviews on here or the look of the place. I just hope none of us get sick from the nasty food or all the flies that where probably landing on it as they brought it to us!Hello Sophie,The Flies we have spoken to environmental health and this is what they have advised we use as there is the UKs largest chicken farm a few miles away and unfortunately we get a week or so a year where we have to do all we can to stop the flies. And as you could see we have put everything in place to try and prevent them. Also it is muck spreading season so we can not do anything about this. if you would have spoken to one of the staff about this we would have happily explained this to you. It is NOT a waste or rubbish problem at all ... we have our waste collected numerous times a week.As for the food side you came over the bank holiday which we are a small family run pub and can run out of items and the staff member will have appologised to you as all our staff is trained in customer service. Also all our food is freshly cooked daily so you have to remember we are a small family run pub and waiting times will take longer than it would a chain pub. When you heard the staff member say 'there are animals out there' she will have more than likely be talking about the flies as we get annoyed with them too!Staff are aloud to smoke but they follow strict hand hygiene rules and are made to wash and sanitize hands as per health and hygiene rules! Toilets are cleaned daily and are checked through out the day, there had possibly been a time where we haven't been to check but they do get toughly cleaned every day.We have never had any one get ill from our food.I feel your review is rather inappropriate as you never even spoke to staff before posting this.I hope ive covered all points in this and if you want to speak to me further then i am happy to talk01507 [email protected]
