"Rancho Português" is one of the best Portuguese restaurants of Rio de Janeiro. No doubt about it! But, and there is always a but ... A second visit to any venue may be somehow disappointing. And that was the case. Unfortunately. The privileged location, the awesome Portuguese "Vista Alegre" china, the shining cutlery, the outstanding wine menu, the competent and friendly staff - they are all still there! But food and desserts aren't "unforgettable" anymore ... Maybe just a bad Sunday around the stoves ... Let's give "Rancho Português" a new chance. Anyway, Bon Appétit!

I visited this amazing Portuguese restaurant in the heart of Copacabana with 2 friends. Very professional and efficient staff, they all speak English. The restaurant is not too big and very quirky. Not posh but not the restaurant you would attend in flip flops & shorts. We were welcomed at the door and taken to the table straight away. This restaurantâs speciality is COD, Portuguese way. Amazing chunky cod portion served with eggs veggies and mush potatoes. Strongly recommended! Price wise not the cheapest in the area but well worth a visit!

The ambiance is very simple with crowded tables. But the excellent Portuguese cuisine and the very reasonable prices always attract a crowd of customers for lunch during the week and little less over the weekend. The place is also know as the "Bar da Dona Ana", after the the friendly Portuguese lady Ana Campos that runs the place and circulates between the tables overseeing the service and giving a hand when needed. The dishes are very generous and one dish serves two hungry guests. The place is famous for its classical Portuguese dishes like the "Cozido à Portuguesa" (Portuguese stew with mixed meets served with polenta sweet potatoes etc.) and "Angu do Gomes" (a oxtail ragout served with creamy polenta). Besides these dishes they also serve an exellent 600 gram tenderloin and the spring chicken (galeto, the name of the place) served with generous side dishes.

We visited for lunch and despite not eating beef which was the main dish of the day the staff were more than accommodating and made us a vegetarian alternative which was excellent. They were on hand to give us anything we needed and you really do have the homely feeling here. All the staff were extremely friendly and the atmosphere was great and very relaxed. On top of this the food was delicious and we were offered more whenever we felt like it. All the staff were extremely enthusiastic about the project and I would definitely recommend going here.

On December 30th, my children, me, and our wives decided to celebrate before the new year, since we would probably be separated. We decided to have lunch at Adega Santiago, a beautiful and pleasant restaurant located in the Village Mall, in Barra da Tijuca.I already knew the place, and it was a lovely afternoon, when we delight with the couvert of salted almonds and olives, great white wines, and octopus â a Lagareiroâ and cod âGomes de Sáâ.
