Came here 40 years ago and the peri peri chicken just as I remembered. Fantastic position with outstanding views. Plenty of parking. Very reasonably priced, lovely staff. Will not leave it as long before next visit, so happy it is still going and doing well.

We couldn't ask for anything more from somewhere to eat on holiday. It has spectacular views down the valley, terrific staff and delicious food. We ate here twice during our stay and everything we had was delicious. It's the third year we've been here and the food is consistently good. It wasn't that busy but to get a table outside you do need to book ahead. It's a perfect holiday restaurant.

Was recommended this restaurant by our apartment owner, and we was not disappointed! After visiting Mount Foia we stopped at this place for a late lunch. With excellent views over Portimao, we had the chicken peri peri, which was so tasty. One word of warning, we ordered for two but had enough to feed a small army, however was given our leftovers in a bag to enjoy again. Prices are very reasonable, a little hidden gem

We decided to drive up to the Monchique mountains, have coffee en route at the lovely Alte Hotel in Alte - fabulous little hillside town with cobbled steep streets full of little shops and cafes a must. Before heading to this restaurant high up in the mountains. We booked a table and so glad we did so as it was really a busy lunchtime destination full of families, couples and all , of all nations all enjoying themselves in this glorious place both inside and out in the garden on a beautiful sunny warm day. Mine host greeted us by name which was a lovely touch and we let him and the rest of the lovely friendly and helpful people guide us thru the menu both of food and wines. A plentiful platter of local charcouterie and piping hot delicious polenta arrived along with warm breads, and olives and a fab bottle of chilled rose and chilled shandy for husband the driver. We opted for a fantastic melting lamb and prune dish with delectable potatoes and the wonderful soft boar dish with rice and proper chips along with salads to share between us. Generous portions, absolutely delicious, soft and melting meats with lovely accompaniments. We had what we left put into containers to take home, no problem, many were doing so. However we did decide to share a pud, well one must. Fabulous choice, both home made scrumptious ones and the ices listed too in order to have such a good choice, we had a yummy homemade pud of the house. Coffee and we were given home made chocs and an aperitif to complete our wonderful meal. Such a wonderful place and such super food along with brilliant staff set in the glorious surroundings with clear air and no pollution. I thoroughly recommend this find as it really makes a trip to this mountain range a joy. Yes you will see the ravages of the awful fires of the year before 2018 that flamed thru the Monchique mountain range, but you can see the regeneration of land flora and fauna which is remarkable. We intend to return to this wonderful gem for dinner and a stay over in one of the local hotels hidden in this area to make it special whereby the driver too can have a couple or so of glasses of excellent vino to accompany his meal and be taxied. Thank you for making our lunch so memorable.

Taverna with a weird name, far out in the Montchique forests surprises with great food and very nice atmosphere!Menu is composed of real local specialties, prepared with love and available at âsymbolicâ cost, the place is definitely worth a detour! Itâs about an hours drive from the touristic hell of the Algarve south coast but really worth the trip so if you are looking for something different from the beach side restaurants in Albufeira and Portimão, head north, you will not be disappointed!

Letâs start by setting expectations. This is a small family run restaurant with a fairly limited menu but serving very tasty food in an old mountain side building. Starters consist of cheese, olives and a mixed salad with peppers, tomatoes and onions. The main is piri piri chicken served with chips. I have to say the chicken was superb and the accompaniments excellent. Mango mouse for desert all washed down with local wine. So very tasty.

Experience the flavours of Portugal @Ceiceira Tasting Lounge in Monchique. Guided tastings of unique small-producer Portuguese wines, along with wine flights and wine by the glass & bottle. Delicious tapas made from scratch with love & local ingredients.
The idea is to combine Tapas with local wine options. The owner is a vintner graduate and has attracted the interest of local wineries. Their wine tasting option is quite inexpensive coupled with a meal and the owner gives in depth information about the wines. The Tapas has a limited selection of ready options but also allows you to design your own Tapas.Price was good but many more clients needed to make it a success following its opening in late August 2019.
