Did a one day train trip to Regua to visit the Wine Museum and to see the Douro. Reserved lunch at Aneto Wine and Table. Absolutely spectacular! Amazingly reasonable prices, wonderful friendly service (thank you Carla), and both the food and the wine were delicious. Tuna carpaccio and the roasted duck on toast are not to be missed.

Recommended by our accommodation host. Dined mid week. Not all dishes available mid week, you have to preorder some. Great start with delicious mushrooms and a tasty chutney. Very tender veal fillet, and I had the salted cod. Excellent. Most mains are designed for sharing for two people, but they offer half serves. Extensive local wine list and great service by Pedro. The night views over the valley were a bonus. Going back.

Make no mistake, this is one of the nicest meals in all of Portugal. Not cheap, but for tastfulness, and presentation, this is as good as it gets.I thought €3 per jug of water was a bit over the top, but otherwise, DELICIOUS!

Slightly confusing method of getting customers into the restaurant, which revolves basically around customers walking in, sitting down, and waiting to be noticed. Odd, but friendly nonetheless. The restaurant is also not the easiest to find for one who does not know their way around town, even with a map or GPS.One is automatically given fruit and meat before ordering: which is not complimentary. Still, it was an adequate replacement for a starter. The salmon steak I ordered came, actually, as two salmon steaks. Both were huge. They were served with vegetables. I could not finish them, there was just so much food for the price. Upon leaving we were given complimentary port, which was pleasant.

All the positive reviews are spot on, the food and wine were delicious. This place epitomizes a small, personalized authentic Portuguese dining experience. Two things I should mention. They ONLY accept cash. I knew this when I made the reservation, but conveniently forgot to check my notes and didn't have enough. The owner kindly told us not to worry, he'd help us get cash after the meal. After dinner, he ended up walking my husband to the nearby ATM, so he wouldn't lose his way! Secondly, the price/quality ratio in both restaurants where we dined in this small town was by far the best in our 2.5 week trip to Spain and Portugal. When I asked the owner why everything was so reasonable here, he explained that they try hard to keep prices down, so that locals can still afford to dine out, not just the tourists. I love that!

Nothing prentious just simple food very well cooked. The spectacular view of the Douro valley and river makes the simple cafe style interior into a special place to eat. Charming ervice from the owner is excellent and is in no way hindered by his lack of English. We enjoyed the pork and an excellent salad.

A Tasca do Zequinha

Reviewed By Davenium

We we staying a few minutes outside of town at Casa de Canilhas and they recommended Tasca do Zequinha as a good place for dinner. Since the town is very small it was one of only a few options, but after eating there I wouldn't have wanted to dine anywhere else. The entry is a bit suspect at first, a bar with locals gathered around it, but when the owner calls you upstairs to the dining room you are transported into what I would imagine used to be a family living room. It is now full of 8 or 10 tables for diners. The menu is simple and made up of classic portuguese fish and meat dishes. We started with the olives and bread and my wife had the vegetable soup. For mains we had shrimp and the pork with chestnuts. Even though the shrimp was meant to be an appetizer the plate was full of massive shrimp for my wife. The pork came with some of the best home made fries I've had and some greens along with a huge heap of pork and chestnuts. It was simply presented but absolutely delicious. At the end my wife decided she wanted to take a piece of cheesecake to go as she was too full for dessert right then. The owner didn't really know what to do but he said he would figure it out and have the cake for us when we paid. At payment time, he had taken an old ice cream tub and placed the cake for us in it, it was very nice. Total cost for one of the tastiest meals we had in Portugal, including wine and beer $35 euros. Unreal value.Do not miss this spot, the food, the people are all worth the trip.
