A typical irish pub where you can drink a lot of good craft-beers, eat delicious hamburgers, pizza 'n' steakhouse in the center of Alba Adriatica.
We were here for an early dinner by Italian standards. The staff was super friendly and the service was prompt. They had a large selection of beers so I ordered a Harps...ahhh! My indication of a good restaurant is if I he kids find what they want to eat and they did and they cleaned their plates!!!

Missus and I went back twice and as many people pointed out, always found the pizzas giant normous, very tasty and at pleasing prices.Shame we don t have a Gauguin Pizzeria back home..looks like we mite have to move to Alba

Seafood restaurant. Restaurant with a large terrace overlooking the sea.
This little restaurant by the sea looks like an ordinary beach establishment, however we have found in person there's much more to it when good eating is concerned. We particularly liked the grilled fish here which were simply amazing, with lovely creamy taste. We can also recommend home-made tiramisu. The rest of our meal (caprese, insalata, bread) was just fine.

Staying in this hotel I chose to also eat here. As the restaurant was full, as it looked, of local people it was just a good sign to stay and try. And this was definitely a good decision as this restaurant really worths trying. However it´s quite dangerous to finish overeaten as everything is very tasty. If you then take in account that they have a very reasonably priced complete menus with more courses, it´s probable you eat here too much as it happened to me. What is amazing it´s their pizza. Maybe only in Naples I have eaten a better one, it was really good. The environment is very likeable, the staff is fast, efficient and smiling.

I am writing this review the morning after our first dinner at Ristorante Carlo V to capture our memories and impressions while they are fresh. When we planned our vacation, back home near Atlanta, we chose Carlo V on the strength of the reviews here. One reviewer said: "The best pizza in the world!" and we said sure, it must be good, but the best?Well, I'm here to tell you that their Il Giullire pizza is by far the best I've ever eaten in my 67 years, and I've tried a good many across the US and in a few other countries. The best in the world? Surely it's got a shot at the title.Carlo V is not easy to find. It's not at the beach. It's on a narrow street behind the downtown area of Alba Adriatica, near where the locals live. Getting there by car from Via Roma was a challenge with the one-way streets. Via Cavour is one-way away from the beach, so it's better to enter from Via Marconi and leave by continuing on to Via Roma. There's a small strip of cleared land across the street from the restaurant where you can park head in, but even if you have to hike in the quarter mile from Marconi, the place is worth it.The service was wonderful. We showed up without a reservation, and they seemed a bit surprised, but we didn't think they'd mind because the restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived at 7:30 PM. But by the time we left, it had filled up, and on the way out, we saw several groups of dressed-up locals headed in. We speak enough Italian to get by, but the young waiter who served us wanted to practice his English, and it was surprisingly good considering it was his fourth of five languages. We recognized most of the ingredients listed in Italian on the menu, but "carciofalo" threw us. The waiter couldn't think of "artichoke" either, and struggled a bit to describe one, but we got the picture. Our party included my wife, our son age 18, and our daughter 14. We ordered four different pizzas and two small salads to share. The Messicana salad was particularly good. They also bring a basket of bread to munch while you wait for the pizza. The bread was delicious - several different kinds - and the oil and balsamic vinegar on the table were also very good. Attention to detail is the hallmark of a good restaurant, and it was excellent here. But hold off on the bread if you can, because you'll want to save every bit of appetite for the pizzas. The pizzas were delivered in round plates about 13 inches in diameter. The pizzas weren't round - they were oddly and individually shaped, mostly oval, but they hung off the edges of the plate. The crust was thin - that's just how they make them. I'd envisioned that we'd line the pizzas down the center of the table and share them, but the guy who brought each pizza placed it before the person who ordered it. I get the sense that in Italy all pizzas are personal. These weren't sliced. The waiter offered to bring more plates, but there wasn't really enough room on the table that way, so we decided to go with the flow. We just cut slices with our knives or broke pieces apart by hand and traded off. My son took his first bite and said "HOLY CHIT" in a voice loud enough to be heard around the restaurant. I said: "Louie!" in a scolding tone. He surprised me. He's a quiet and well-mannered kid, not given to cursing. He said: "Dad, this is the best pizza I've ever tasted in my life, and it's likely to be the best I'll ever have, and I'm going to enjoy it." A couple of minutes later he tried his sister's Il Giullire pizza, and his excitement went up another notch. All four pizzas were awesome, but we all agreed that the Il Giullire pizza our daughter ordered was the best of all. She's a supertaster and very particular about food, but she raved as well: "I'm in heaven!"What makes the pizzas so great? The way the flavors come together at the moment of presentation. They don't overload the pizzas, but the ingredients are top quality and combine with the spices in the wood-burning oven to make magic. The moment of perfection lasts only a bit, though. Ten minutes later, when the pizzas cool, the flavors change a little, though they are still wonderful. But this just isn't take-out pizza. The bill was very reasonable - 52 euro for the four of us and we had all the delicious food, great draft beer and kid's drinks we could possibly handle. We left the waiter a tip a bit over 25 percent. He said, "It's too much" and I said, "But we're so happy", and he got the picture.

I went here several times before and I've never been dissappointed. The plates are so tasteful, perfectly delicious, as an obvious mark of the chef's quality work. Of course, I must mention the 'crew', which is a beautiful team in this family business. Totally worth it!
