Urbino (Italian: [urˈbiːno]; listen (help·info)) is a walled city in the Marche region of Italy, south-west of Pesaro, a World Heritage Site notable for a remarkable historical legacy of independent Renaissance culture, especially under the patronage of Federico da Montefeltro, duke of Urbino from 1444 to 1482. The town, nestled on a high sloping hillside, retains much of its picturesque medieval aspect. It hosts the University of Urbino, founded in 1506, and is the seat of the Archbishop of Urbino. Its best-known architectural piece is the Palazzo Ducale, rebuilt by Luciano Laurana.

Didn't book and couldn't get a table on the outside veranda as they were so busy. Readily seated inside and enjoyed the experience owing not least to the great tasting food and helpful, efficient service. Hadn't expected anything that great as normally places by the bus station and car park in tourist towns are usually more focused on fast food. How wrong was I and it was clear that the 100% Italian spoken by the others there, reinforces the view that locals too are convinced by the place.

I came here on my 1st night in Urbino, and decided to have the tuna and onion pizza, out of the very large selection they offer. There was a short wait, but service was fast, certainly considering how busy was. The pizza however was a disappointment, not very tasty, and soggy. However, it did fill me up, and it was also very cheap.

We stayed in Urbino for four nights recently. We discovered Ragno d'oro on the second evening and had all our remaining dinners there. The food and the atmosphere are just great and service is excellent, too. We had several dishes over these three nights. The risotto al funghi porcini was amazing, the pizza's were among the best I have had worldwide. A thin crusty bottom and fresh ingredients on top. The side dishes were very tasty. We had the cooked or grilled vegetables several times. We also ordered a salad each time. The Greek salad was our favorite with great tasting olives and feta. The red house wine was very much to our taste as well.Don't be mistaken by the large size of the restaurant and the many tables they have. The food and service was of constant high quality all three nights and the restaurant was full most of the times. The staff work really hard and despite the large numbers of customers they welcome each evening, they remembered that we liked to finish with a portion of fresh melon-pieces followed by a decaf espresso.

There are a lot of choices in Urbino. This was close to the Bonconte Hotel and my fellow travelers were tired. It turned out to be quite good, Service was attentive and it was reasonably priced

As we came out of Palazzo Ducale we found Al Cantuccio nearby in a quite street side to the busy tourist sites. We ordered casciotto, typical cheese from Urbino served with tasty olives and cresca, local version of the classical piadina romagnola, both excellent! Service was good and the pizza we had with this was very tasty. Good choice for a quite lunch in a relaxing atmosphere terrace in Urbino center!

This place is a great take-away specialising in Genoese fast foods, pizza etc. It is extremely well-priced and the service is friendly and helpful. There are even tables and seats outside and if you're lucky the sun will be shinning.

This hole-in-the-wall type place is an institution in Urbino. Here they made fresh daily, pizza bianca (similar to focaccia without sauce or toppings) and pizza rossa (piazza bianca with tomato base). If you are coming to Urbino and want to sample some of Urbinoâs best pizza at a true pizza al taglio (pizza by the slice sold at small take-away shop), then head to Il Buco and order up a slice of Pizza Rossa!

I've been to this place several times and I have to say that the location is great and the restaurant very roomy. Food is very good and tasty, especially pizza with burrata and culatello, but prices are a bit highDear lucadambro, thanks for the nice comment. The food cost is, by in large, in line with organic food production, and for sure the pizza price is roughly 10 euro .. not so expensive.so please come back to try the new summer menu.kind regards

I wish I could try all the dishes because they all look awesome. It was a great meal from start to finish. The staff is incredible, very young and organized, did the best to answer all our questions and made great suggestions. The restaurante is cosy and familiar and does not have that gourmet uptightness
