Things to do in Sanford
We went here the night the hurricane was supposed to come in to get pizzas. Evidently they didn't plan well and were backed up all around the bldg. People were waiting inside also and people were coming in that had pulled over in the drive thru waiting on pizza. It was a hot mess. After 30 minutes or so we finally received our $6 pep and $5 cheese. They were not worth the wait. They were dry and rubbery. The staff here seems young and carefree as if they dont take their job serious. If you dont like your job find a another one!!

We usually wait for their three large topping specials since we love to change up the sauces and put together novel combinations. One thing we never change... we always order the Brooklyn crusts which taste like the old fashioned Chicago style pizza parlor crust. Nobody does their crust like they do, at least not in these neck of the woods!
This was the quality I expect from Pizza Hut, whether I am in the UK or USA. That is not bad, but when you have tasted real Pizza then you know you can get better elsewhere. Sanford is no exception. The best place is La Dolce Vita, Downtown Sanford and Café Vesuvio, very near to Pizza Hut, is also better. I have still given Pizza Hut an overall very good. Average I thought would be too harsh. It is a pity there is not a "Good" score, which is what I would have liked to have given. However, he competition is excellent.

I stopped by here for lunch one day while visiting the Sanford area this week. I've been here before so I was looking forward to enjoying some delicious pizza and I was not disappointed. The pizza was freshly made and nothing like the factory made pizzas at the big pizza joints. Service was a bit off (it was 12 noon when I arrived and busy) but the food made up for it. The prices were very reasonable. I believe that the two slices of pizza with pepperoni and a beverage was under $5.00. This is not a fancy place but the food is good and I noticed a lot of locals dining there during my visit. The restaurant is located near an exit from Route 421. It is in a small strip mall next to a gym, a Food Lion, and a Chinese take out business. There's plenty of parking available.

Plenty of edible food, adequate service, clean surroundings, low prices. What's to complain about? Nothing unless you want real Italian food with some flair. The salad dressings are Ken's from grocery store served in the little plastic bags. The whole experience seems like it came wrapped in plastic. Probably a good place to take the kids.

We decided we wanted Italian food and headed to Cafe Vesuvio. The restaurant has been in the same location for a while and we have eaten there before...but it has been several years ago. At that time the food tasted more pre-processed than home-made. That's the basic reason I had not wanted to return to eat here. However, several folk in town had spoken highly of the current menu. I ordered veal parmigiana and was very pleased with taste and quantity of food I was served. The salad was the usual garden variety salad, but all the items were very fresh. The garlic bread was also very good. Our waitress was superb. She was friendly and very attentive of our needs. The only less than perfect issue we had was that the calamari was over-cooked. It looked delicious on the plate when it was delivered...but sadly it was very chewy. Calamari is generally a good measuring stick for how good the cooks in the kitchen are... However, I am willing to forgive this one misstep by figuring the cooks were very busy that particular evening. I hope that someone from Cafe Vesuvio reads my remarks and will stress the importance of having every food item perfect when it is served. All in all, Cafe Vesuvio is an excellent place to eat Italinan food in Sanford. I will certainly eat here again...

In its earlier location, this waslong our favorite restaurant in Sanford. With a recent move, the food and menu are still great, but the noise level was so marked that our group had to suspend its planned meeting; people were unable to hear one another from one end of the table to the other and conversation across the table was also difficult. Also, while I understand the âno reservationâ policy, I do think that reservations should be made for larger groups. Our table was clearly set and waiting but we were kept standing until the last of our group had found parking and joined us.It seemed an unnecessary inconvenience. Good food, which La Dolce Vita offers, would be better enjoyed with some attention to the sound levels. We appreciate your response and business. With any old building, there are challenges. We have installed acoustic panels throughout the building to improve the sound and are exploring additional solutions. Regarding seating, it is much easier to remove seats/tables for guest that do not show up rather than disrupting the entire group after you've been seated. Unfortunately, groups rarely end up being the size originally quoted. We are glad you enjoy the food and menu and hope you will visit us again, soon!
