We came for dinner after passing this place gain and again on the tram. It has a genuine Italian ambience the moment you walk in. The staff are primarily Italian, increasingly rare in Switzerland these days. It appears to be a family run place. We were seated in the garden on a warm summer night. The courtyard is covered by a mesh roof which shields the patrons from falling chestnuts from two large trees in the courtyard. We began with simple salads that were generally good. Mine was rucola and parmesan. It was dressed on the inside with a gelatinous balsamic dressing and then undressed leaves were placed over the outside. It appeared undressed and so the additional balsamic I added went over the top. Still it was good. I've no idea why they would want to hide the dressing. Our entree was a seasonal special of tagliarini with pfifferling (chanterelle mushrooms). The pasta was done to perfection, a nice chewy al dente and the mushrooms were perfectly sautéed. It was a lot of pasta (servings are generous here) and so our desserts were modest sorbettos, my companion's a blackberry sorbetto usually served with grappa (she asked to exclude the grappa) and mine a pear sorbetto with a bit Pear William. The sorbettos were nicely done. All in all it was a pleasant meal drawn out over 2 1/2 hours of lovely conversation, including some entertaining banter in Italian with our waiter. Service was friendly and knowledgable and a little sparse, although we were there to dine so it wasn't a huge issue. The bill was at the high end of moderate but is par for the course in Switzerland as a whole. I will come again. I need to try the pizza to see if it is as good as some of the reviewers claim.

The food was really good and the team working there very friendly. Unfortunately I had to get takeaway as the restaurant was full so I recommend booking a table. Even if you get takeaway it's work it.

The portions are huge and the quality is good! I live nearby and glad I have found this place, the host is very nice :-) There is some confusion over the name....Chez Moose is written on the sign, but the restaurant is also known as Efes!

You will get what you can expect. The restaurant looks really old-fashioned and a mix of everything. Just to put it this way: ignore the ambiance and you will be happy.Nevertheless, I can neither recommend nor disadvise to go there. It is more or less a standard Pizzeria, nothing else. However, the staff is friendly and they speak English! Even the Menu Card is in German (English I cannot recall). The Pizza was good, nothing to complain.

Standard Italian food as you may expect. Overall quality and service deteriorated however over the last year. Lots,of,people, small tables lower quality of food served, smaller pizza with less content

A journey through gourmet flavours A few steps from Markplatz, the Coccodrillo ristorante offers you a fun experience in the centre of Basel that will take you on a journey through gourmet flavours. Between baroque and cosy atmosphere, you will be immerse
It was so difficult to find a restaurant in Basel during this holiday without having made reservations. After tryin 5 differnet locals, Ristorante Coccodrillo was able to accomodate us with a 20 minute wait time. No worries, we walked down the block to have a drink outside a lovely place with a fire pit and animal skinned blankets and holiday decorations. When we were seated, everything was to perfection! The food, the service and the ambiance. I would highly recommend this anyone looking for a great place for a fabulous meal! Excellent!

Small rustic place, family owned business, where to have a pizza (but not only).Environment cozy and owners (Marco & Rita) are very friendly and taking care of their guests. I was here more than once and I fully recommend to go for not âstandardâ pizza: try a gourmet or a recommendation from the chef Marco! All absolutely gorgeous! He is specially gifted for combining together different ingredients that are perfectly harmonizing into an unforgettable food experience that you cannot have elsewhere! Marcoâs dedication and passion to high quality standard is recognizable in what we could call R&D (research & development) applied to food (research for bio products and development of new receipts, monthly a new gourmet pizza) and from keeping the restaurant small to be able to do not compromise quality with quantity. Donât forget to ask for Ritaâs âjust in timeâ made tiramisu, you may come back only for this!

Neapolitan pizza, seafood, antipasti, salad, glutenfree pizza, we use high quality and traditionfull Italian products at the best price, our restaurant is suitable for natives and tourists, the location is a bit hidden but very centrally located in Basel
This restaurant serves authentic Italian pizza that is cooked out of the oven. The ingredients are fresh and the taste is good. I ordered a spicy calabressa pizza with mushrooms and olives. The only compliant that I had is that the pizza could have been cooked a little longer in the oven. But overall the pizza was fine. The staff was very friendly and they spoke Italian.

A more contemporary bar than is usually found in the area. The service is friendly and unobtrusive and there is free WIFI. A fairly limited bar-snack type menu but the portions are very generous making it good value for money. Itâs packed at lunchtimes and so get there early or book ahead.

This was my second visit to The Kitchen as I was so impressed with the first one. The pizzas here are of superior quality and taste and this visit was no exception. I tried the Colosseo 15CHF (Pomodoro, Mozzarella, Aubergine, Zucchini, Cherry Tomaten, Oliven). This stuff is really mouthwatering good food! The staff is always friendly and helpful, the ingredients are fresh and after your pizza is removed from the oven the staff cuts and boxes your piping hot pizza to go. I always head over to the Rheinufer and enjoy the pizza surrounded by the great backdrop of the city architecture. An enjoyable visit every time. Highly recommended!Grazie mille. !
