A minute walk from Hakone-Yumoto station! Brand new pizzeria/gelateria, eat-in&out.
We stopped in here for a late lunch and are glad we did. The service was great and super efficient. We had a green salad and a pizza, the margarita doc pizza. We cleaned our plates until they shined again. The consistency and chewiness of the crust was so authentic and delicious! If you want a break from Japanese food, come here for some delicious Italian food. It's in an alley across from the Hakone-Yumoto train station going towards up the hill.

I feel very fortunate to live just a short distance from this hidden treasure which offers some of the best Italian cuisine I've tasted--anywhere in the world. This cozy chef-owned restaurant is a 5-minute walk from Odawara station and well worth the visit. The generously portioned brick oven wood-fired pizzas are amazing and available for only 1,000 yen during weekday lunchtime--a great deal. The menu varies daily and the wait staff, including my favorite waitress Faustine (who kindly speaks enough well English to walk you through the all-Japanese menu) can knowledgeably guide you through the various daily specials and recommended wine selections. Even the salads, using the vegetables grown in his mom's own garden, are wonderful. Best of all, if you have a special craving for something that's not on the menu or a dietary restriction, the chef will do his best to accommodate any special requests as long as he has the ingredients on hand. When the weather is nice, you can also enjoy their outdoor terrace seating. Always a pleasurable dining experience!

A decent choice if you are willing to wait to be served during the peak hours.(Possible Discomfort)1) There seems to a lack of leadership (or management) on the floor during the rush hour. We had to wait for 10-20 minues for the cakes and coffee to arrive. Japanese are not accustomed to be forced to wait in restaurants (especially when dining with kids).2) Floor is full of kids and families which may irritate the non-kids family.(Comfort)1) food quality is competitive with those of "standard" Italian restaurants in Tokyo.2) Laid-back and spacious ambience will suffice your time with the family.3) A full variation of home-made pies and cakesMake sure to 1) book in advance, and 2) have suffient patience like Mother Teresa to wait to be served.
