We had last eaten here in February but over the nearly 20 years as part-time Paulhanese residents we had had pizza and salad here more than annually and under different owners and chefs. On this night we had planned to dine at a restaurant in a neighboring village but it was totally booked and it was getting late; so, I walked to the Pignata for an 8:30 reservation and it was granted. When we arrived, all of the outdoor tables were taken and we sat inside very close to the pizza oven. It was warm for me, less so for my wife until a large family arrived and had to close one of the window shutters and the waitress placed the tablet with the dayâs specials in front of the fan.I ordered a pork dish that turned out to be very similar to BBQed spare ribs; it was tasty as was its accompanying salad and pommes frites. My wife ordered one of the grilled beef dishes and asked that it be grilled to a âmediumâ temperature; she knew what that meant having grown up in Europe and being very familiar with what âmediumâ meant. There could be no misunderstanding. But, suffice to say, the meat was inedible; it was over-cooked; it was so tough that she could not pierce it with a steak knife; and what she chewed had no taste. There can be no explanation for serving a piece of meat like this in an otherwise decent local restaurant whose current chef claims to have been that placeâs chef for a decade! No excuse is satisfactory. So, as much as we both want restaurants in Paulhan to survive the tough competition against which they are compared, it is a great disappointment to assert that we will never return to La Pignata AND we would discourage anyone else who happens to be a follower of my hundreds of restaurant reviews from throughout the world to do the same.

My wife and I decided to order a couple of pizzas one night of our stay in Pezenas and eat at our hotel. The pizzas from this place were very well prepared and tasted great. Friendly folks working there as well.

Small, friendly and tucked away, this place is worth seeking out if youâre looking for a simple and tasty âsomethingâ that contrasts directly with the more rich and traditional French cuisine. A few outside tables in the narrow street adds atmosphere... Thin pizza bases that are well cooked are the stand-out feature here...

Really good choice of freshly baked pizzas done in a wood fire. Orders ready in about 15 mins. Staff friendly and place immaculately kept. Dropped in on a cold rainy night to try out their basic pizza. Take out only. It was the Margarita pizza, very basic and good. So we came back the following week to try a more elaborate one - the Vegetarienne. It was excellent- good toppings, nice crust, crisp, not too thick. Quick service, friendly too. Very clean place, sparkling new with a deluxe start of the art Italian pizza oven. Definitely recommend a visit. merci pour votre avis

Consistently good quality pizzas and service! Lovely to sit out on the Esplanade in the months from April through to November.

Chanced upon this place whilst looking for another and couldnât have been more pleased. Monsieur was very welcoming, helping us park nearby and enlisting someone else to help with our broken French. The pizzas we had were very tasty and I perfect thin crust tradition; so much so that we returned a few days later for more. Would thoroughly recommend and we will be back.
