A popular Adelaide institution! Serving tastybpasta and pizzas since 1957
Luciaâs, located in the Adelaide Central Market, is something of an institution in Adelaide. It opened in 1957 and is still operated by the same family. This, reportedly, was the first pizza bar in Adelaide.Today you still get friendly, if sometimes, frantic service and great, honest food using fresh ingredients directly from the adjacent market. If the restaurant looks full, just hang around and ask for a table. The tables turnover pretty quickly. The menu is extensive and the wine list offers some great surprises. Good food, service and value for money.

We stopped by earlier in the day and asked if they could accommodate a garlic allergy. They said yes and we made a reservation. That night, when I tried to order, there was only a salad on the menu that I could eat. The table only had stools with no back. It would not have been comfortable for a lingering meal. We waited at the table for service, only to be told after about 10 minutes that we had to order at the bar. Would recommend for the beers, but there was a very limited food menu for dinner.

Amalfi Pizzeria Restaurant
We stopped at this recommended Italian restaurant after spending the morning visiting nearby Migration, South Australia and Art Gallery Museums. Greeted by a friendly waitress, we chose a corner table in the rear as the office/university crowd was beginning to arrive at 12;15 PM. Another smiling waitress presented a drink menu and brought a carafe of water along with bread, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. We chose from the place mat menu before using the clean restrooms. My natural oysters arrived just before the hot Hawaiian Pizza. The food was delicious but the noise level was a bit too high between the music and the boisterous diners for normal conversation. It was hard to imagine an enjoyable experience if the restaurant had been full. Paid with my Visa card, ~$25

Visited on a Saturday night and this place was heaving. Even so, the guvnor sorted out all incoming parties and found everyone tables in this deceptively huge restaurant. Despite the volume, they were professional in coping. The service was friendly like a local taverna. Really enjoyable. In truth, the food was a bit average - like family cooked fare rather than top going out nosh. But good nonetheless. And well priced.

Itâs almost a victim of its own success. It was a really busy Sunday night and it was SO noisy! Our little table of four could barely hear ourselves above the hubbub. I appreciate that itâs a âhappyâ noise, but it was very trying. As far as the food goes, some good, some not so... The pork rib ravioli was declared delicious. I opted for the special pizza - pork belly, tomatoes, cheese. Sounded interesting but it disappointed. The first issue was that the toppings made the base soggy, a mortal sin for pizza. I couldnât pick up a slice without it collapsing and losing the topping. Then the other issue was a lack of flavour. A few scattered cherry tomatoes didnât cut it and nowhere near enough cheese. A good idea lost in execution. Maybe a lesson to stick to the classics. Then the desserts - brilliant! Probably the best tiramisu Iâve had in years. Rich, tasty and a very generous serve. Itâs uber trendy right now. Not sure Iâd rush back.

They were pretty flat out when I arrived, as there was something on locally. I had the Coorong Angus Flat Iron steak with chimichurri and enchilada (?). Medium-rare, great quality meat and cooked to perfection. Thanks for the great review and stopping in, hope to see you again soon!

there are two of these restaurants - one on King william road and one on waymouth street
Service was quick, friendly & helpful when I went for dinner. There is a blackboard with a good selection of tapas type dishes. And there is the imaginative pizza menu.I had the meatball and tomato pizza. The pizza was thin & crispy & there were about two small meatballs on every slice. It was very tasty. There are also two desert pizzas .There is also an extensive selection of bottled wine, wines by the glass & many beers to choose from.
