The margherita pizza baked in their open pizza oven was great - wine selection was good too and espresso excellent. The pastas all sound appetizing, but we would not recommend - itâs customized to local taste buds, as far as Kanazawa is to Rome. Stick to the pizzas and you wonât be disappointed. The restaurant has a cosy casual atmosphere and is good for families.

After a busy day of sightseeing, with tired feet, we wanted a beer after looking around Higashi Chaya District. Then we had gyÅzas as a snack, more beer, and ended up ordering their fresh and delicious pizzas. Not very Japanese (aside from their craft beer brewed onsite), but just perfect. Friendly staff and good music.

After 2 weeks of fish and rice we decided to come to The Cottage for lunch. It's a small cozy place, so you should probaply reserve seats if you visit for dinner. Momo was a great host and Tony makes a fabolous pizza and a good apple crumble. Please note that we could only choose from 2 mains for lunch, so dont expect a 5 page long menu.
Anybody who appreciates real pizza will love this place. Buffalo Mozzarella, D. O. C. Margerita, a proper woodfired oven, nothing on the menu except Pizza, a few appetizer plates, gelato, and the best home-made Limoncello I have ever tasted. All in a traditional wooden Japanese house in the heart of ancient Kanazawa. Sounds mental, but it is all absolutely perfect. Best pizza I've eaten anywhere (and I eat a lot, everwhere I go), great service, house-wine and surreal location. Only thing missing is Anchovies. A word of warning - this is real pizza, not the kind that comes in slices, and just like in Napoli, it's soggy in the middle, the tomato sauce soaking into the dough. Crispy and bubbly round the edges, but with the wonderful bready, tomato, cheese mush in the middle that is Real Pizza. If you know what Pizza Vera is, you'll love this place.
