Historically an ancient parish in the county of Essex, that became the manor and liberty of Havering, Hornchurch shifted from agriculture to other industries with the growing significance of nearby Romford as a market town and centre of administration. As part of the suburban growth of London in the 20th century, Hornchurch significantly expanded and increased in population, becoming an urban district in 1926, and forming part of Greater London since 1965. It is the location of Queen's Theatre, Havering Sixth Form College and Havering College of Further and Higher Education.

Itâs interesting that following on from two bad reviews for Motherâs Day there have been five excellent ones some of which seem to be directly contradicting a lot of what was said in the bad ones! And three of them are brand new trip advisor accounts posting for the first time on Sunday, wonder if theyâve been made just to offset the genuine bad ones? This is my experience:Surely one of the main requisites of the service industry is âthe customer is always rightâ especially when thereâs a good chance that they are. On Sunday, Motherâs Day, the tension of the day that was about to start must have got to the young waitress. To begin with we were hurried into ordering drinks while still posing for a family photograph because we had four generations together for the occasion. At this time there were only a few tables occupied as it was around 12 noon. I then visited the ladies room to be asked on return what I wanted to order. Some of us took a little longer to decide and I found myself having to keep the waitress happy, the restaurant was still almost empty. It didnât stop there when two of our party felt insulted by the same waitress who when she was asked again for glasses of prosecco replied in a most indignant way that they had to be ordered when the food was ordered, which is what they had done. I encouraged them to stay calm as we didnât want to spoil what weâd hoped would be a happy and relaxing event. To our surprise the waitress could be seen talking to another member of staff and then looking back at us making it pretty obvious that the incident was being talked about in a disapproving way, how unprofessional. I found the food to be of a high standard and later was able to see the kitchen staff working at full speed to serve a then busy restaurant. The waitressesâ tone improved but she should undergo a thorough training if she is to avoid causing issues in the future, less attitude would be a good place to start.Following the prosecco debacle another in our party thought it best to scrutinise the bill in case of error and we found that indeed due to it we had been charged an extra £15. This took two attempts at explaining before the problem was rectified!Since Sunday I have been looking back at reviews for this restaurant and it seems the issues in those reviews are still happening even though Prezzo posted that the staff would receive more training. All the other staff I encountered were lovely so maybe itâs just the one.

At Bunno we enjoy making our pasta every day and roasting our carefully selected coffee beans. You can enjoy them at our restaurant or take it away with you
Old Street, Shoreditch, Southwark and Covent Garden all have pasta bars par excellence. Itâs surprising indeed to announce that Romford now joins that list in the shape of The Bunno in South Street which describes itself as âYour Local Coffee Roasters and Fresh Pasta Makersâ. Well one afternoon a few months ago I tried the coffee and a tiramisu in a plastic pot, so finding myself in Romford at lunchtime popped in to try the pasta. Although the rear is laid out as a restaurant, one must order and pay at the counter where there is a display of pizza slices, muffins and pastries. There are five or so types of pastas which come with a choice of topping. I opted instead for one of the three filled pastas of the day a tortellini filled by minced pork rib in a thick tomato sauce. Accompanied by a glass of Chianti this proved a deeply satisfying dish.

Calzone pizza, slit the crust and what do you find hiding? Three small mouthfuls of chicken, a bit of red pepper with some onion and tomato. Last time I went to this restaurant the Calzone was delicious and packed with filling. Friends on another tables complained at the end about their hot food being served on cold plates. Aaaaggghhhh!! Places like this rely on âvoucher businessâ then inflate their prices to accommodate this. This said I thought the overall experience was poor and regional management need to really look st what theyâre doing here. Iâll take a lot of persuading to return.

At Zizzi we like to do things a little differently. We donât do over-complicated recipes or scrimpy portion sizes. Weâre all about the well-chosen ingredients, simply put together to make exceptional Italian food.Found at the end of the high street of thi
The cooking and service are well mannered but hopeless. The pizzas were cooked for the same length of time as the Calzone so they tasted more like baked cardboard than pizza. Cheese on on then pizzas was cooked so long it became solid. Calzone tasted nice. There seems a serious disconnect between the food preparation and the actual serving of food. Food is left on the side unless prompted to serve it. Someone elseâs desert including ice cream was left on the side to basically melt.

This is a spacious and modern restaurant. Service is both friendly and intuitive. There is a great selection of food on offer including daily specials and set menus during the day. The building appears to accessible and there is seating at the front of the building. my fresh pizza was cooked to order and was filling. My starter of mushrooms in breadcrumbs was served in a small basket. Plenty of buses pass the restaurant and it is close to Romford Train Station. I'll definitely return.
