Visiting up north friends brought in pizza and salad and we were pleasantly surprised. The pizza is four stars while the salads we had were very unremarkable and average.....Thin pizza with a slightly sweet sauce was great.... sausage was delicious but couldâve used a bit more. Veggie pizza also was well received despite spinach, not my choosing. With so many nearby pizza options including Pieroâs in HP, I doubt weâd order in from here again... but would be open to eating their Italian food in their restaurant.

This pizza was unfortunately not very good despite it being cooked in a woodfired oven. The sandwich was decent but it was pretty overpriced (pretty sure it was like 12 bucks which seems excessive for a sandwich). The pizza was also quite expensive as it costed about 15 dollars for a small pizza (only enough for 2 people, 3 if your pushing it. Other than that the decor and overall feel of the restaurant is nice.

The folks at Buffo's know us by our carry-out order even without seeing us. Italian Beef very dry with sweet peppers and well-done fries, no beef juice on the side, Turkey Burger with lettuce, tomato and ketchup, well-done sweet potato fries. This time, the results were so pretty I plated them up on my signature white plate. I know we'll be back, and they'll be ready.

I can't understand the following that Lou's has established - apart, perhaps, for their deep-dish pies [and even those are lacking if you're a fan of real Italian-sausage]. Their thin-crust pizza, e.g., their sausage-pizza's, are almost flavorless. They don't [and - get this, they're proud of the fact] use fennel in their sausage and their sausage pizza's are nearly flavorless in no small part due to that omission. Additionally, that... peculiar crust on their thin-crust pizzas is disproportionate to the rest of the pie and adds nothing [but a challenge] to getting to the heart - shall we say, of the matter. Over all, Lou's thin-crust pizzas are entirely too... buttery [not to be confused with olive-oil] and lack any semblance to a legitimate Italian-pizza. After eating a portion of a thin-crust pie from Lou's my mouth feels as if its interior has been coated with lactose-paste. Like I said, I just don't - and won't, get it; not when the North Shore has such viable alternatives as Buffo's and/or Il Forno's [in Highwood and Deerfield - respectively]. Better/best still, head into Chicago and partake of a pizza from Pat's on Lincoln Avenue at Schubert.Lou's - I just don't/won't get it. Some of the family 'like' Lou's, but, I'm afraid we'll have to agree - to disagree, and I won't be joining them if they choose to consume such in the future. I take my pizza {and taste-buds} too seriously to self-inflict that product on myself. Oh yes, it should be pointed out that the Lou's in Highland Park is take-out - ONLY!
Brooklyn style crust is the best of the 3. Order with sliced sausage (if that's what you want) and extra sauce. We've tried, so far, the Philly Cheese Steak and Chicken Parm baked sandwiches. All have arrived piping hot. Online ordering offers coupons not available through mailers. The pizza is acceptable - had better, but definitely have had worse from much pricier places. Sandwiches are very tasty and come on Artisan bread rolls. We order regularly for delivery. Haven't tried the salads of the baked pasta dishes yet.
