Lonely Planet's Top choice-featuring thin crust Italian style handmade pizza, and tropical ice cream. Family Friendly-Open air, casual dining Come for lunch, stay for dinner.
Great pizza, cracker thin crust, so good. Delicious homemade ice cream. Great for adults, and most importantly, rave reviews from the kids. Truly a hidden gem. When you go, be sure to ask for Moses. Hell take great care of you, and if youâre interested heâll even take you fishing in Arenal. The highlight of our visit was after we finished our meal. We were walking around the grounds, admiring the coffee and cacao trees, when we came upon the grounds keeper and local horticulture specialist Juan. He gave us a personal tour of the fields he himself manicured. Basil and oregano bushes, banana trees, pineapple plants, guava trees, lemon plants, and many, many more gorgeous and fragrant fauna. It was a special and unexpected moment. The food, the ice cream, and the passion for all things Tico. Perfect.

Weâve lived in Costa Rica for nearly a year, and have mostly learned what to expect when dining out. Soon after moving her we learned the saying, âOrder what you want, eat what you get.â But even in this context, Howlers was a real disappointment. Four of us ordered a grilled cheese sandwich each ($5 each), an order of fries ($4), three soft drinks and one glass of wine. The total came to $44. That means that the three small soft drinks and glass of wine were $20. I commented to the guy that the prices were too high, and he told me next time he would give me a âlocal priceâ. Weâre familiar with âGringo Pricingâ, but this was the first time it was so blatant. We wonât be back.
