Lately weâve been stopping at various pizza places to try there Italian Submarine sandwiches for lunch. Buona Pizza is an older local pizza/restaurant that has been in Bernardsville since 1969. Today when I spotted a parking space close-by we decided to check it out. I ordered the cold Italian sub to go. The sub was made the way I liked it with fresh bread, meat, cheese, lettuce & tomato, lots of olive & vinegar and tasted great. This kind of sandwich needs to be eaten there, unless you live or work really close, otherwise the oil & vinegar (the amount I like) will make the bread soggy if you wait too long. The owner was very friendly.

The "sub shop" name is a misnomer. This is a bona fide Italian restaurant. The pizzas are excellent to be sure, and the variety of selection outstanding. But the pasta fagioli is one of the best I've ever had and the nightly specials (including a pasta, chicken and seafood selection) are excellent. They do mussels well, the fried calamari is excellent and their puttanesca sauce is authentic. The only criticism I might have is their Caesar salad is rather plain. Prices are reasonable and there is adequate indoor seating. Lenny's is a "go to" place for the locals.

We ordered two great pizzas for takeout, One had fennel sausage and mushrooms, and the other had pepperoni, red onions, fennel sausage. Thin crust perfectly cooked. We also got rigatoni with really great meatballs. Tried their salad misto with fennel and grilled shrimp. All delicious.

Went here with co-workers for a quick lunch. Such a wide variety of atypical toppings and combinations. Such a treat. Delicious too. Super busy with minimal staff though. Had to request table to be wiped.

The Menu features a compete spectrum of Italian and American sandwiches and Pizza.High quality "Boars-Head " brand deli products are featured.Our Server, Sara, followed all our special sandwich variations with a smile.My hot turkey/melted Swiss/ coleslaw/mustard/ on whole wheat toast was great!The pizza slices were a bit mushy on the underside but featured fresh quality toppings.Cozy, clean and comfortable tables.

I called in a pizza order, and remembered they had a deal for 1/2 off a meal. I questioned the kid on the phone about it, and he said yes, but it was pick up only. So, I ordered an eggplant parmesan. When I got there, the kids behind the counter charged me full price for the eggplant parm. I questioned him about it, and he said it was buy one, get the second half off. He never said that on the phone when I asked about the deal, or mentioned it when I ordered one eggplant parm. So, I ordered the second parm and waited for it. They just wanted to sell two parms that night. The kids thought it was funny, and laughed out loud about it. I heard the one say " I got another one". They lost me as a customer, and my friends will know how they jerk you around. I hope the $ 20 in sales was worth the $ 500+ in lost sales this year. I threw both parms out when I got home, I was so mad.

We stopped in cold and hungry from an extended road trip and Italian was what we all finally agreed on. Frankly, we got very lucky. The NY style pizza was thin crusted and delicious, fresh ingredients, good marinara. Nonna would approve. We followed the lovely server Kathy's advice and got the capellini a la vodka - wow! Salads were crisp and fresh, portions are abundant, prices are reasonable. Glad we stopped in, you will be too.

Nestled between the Chase Bank and the Trattoria Mediterranea.The friendly Spanish American Team will prepare and serve your personal choices.(toppings etc.) ........with a smile and a ' no problem ' attitude.Take your time and they will fix the food your way.Subs and pizza are mostly take out ....and no hot coffee out.. but.. you can BYOB

While better then many in the area, having grown up in a town with several exceptional "Tomato Pie" pizza places I can not give it better then average overall, but they are better then average in the area.
