While in Barcelona we decided to try something different and so we picked Divinal Ristorante. It was really dfficult to find, so a cab might be advisable unless you have a GPS. The quest is well worth the reward ! Wood fired is the key. The pizza is excellent, the waitstaff professional and courteous. We had the seafood pizza and it was excellent. The tiramisu was superb, as was the coffee, and everything was served in the proper order. Excellent pizza, and if the rest of the Italian food is as good, it is a slam dunk winner. Did I mention that it is extremely reasonably priced? Thanks man! But I hope you know you weren´t in Barcelona! It was Barcelos!

This is a place where I went several times. Its a place when you can have your daily lunch or have a more glamour meal. The staff is very nice and the owner is a princess! Deco is very original. Except for Thursdays you always have a seat to start your lunch.(Thursdays is the big and nice fair just outside). You can have a full meal with a glass of wine for 7 euros. They also sale pizza for takeaway. VERY GOOD!

We went out of our way to stop at this restaurant because the Italian born pizzaiolo won first place in the best pizza in Portugal contest held in July 2014. The first problem is that the restaurant is in the rather un-touristy city of Barcelos and is hard to find. Most GPS do not have it. The place was full at lunchtime and quite noisy with a lot of families and small children. No problem. Despite the crowd we had our menu in five minutes and were asked if we wanted to order after another five minutes. We ordered bruschetta as a starter, a mixed salad, and a medium pizza, the very same one that had won first prize. The bruschetta came quickly but was not really bruschetta but a small pizza--good but not what we had ordered. The pizza was delicious, consisting of mozzarella, egg plant, tomatoes, and ruccola (rocket or arugula). It was more than enough for two, and cost only 10 euros. The salad, on the other hand, was uninspiring with the lettuce, tomatoes, grated carrots, and onions thrown onto a plate. The appearance and taste were very disappointing. While the pizza was obviously made by the Italian pizzaiolo the salad was not. It was made by someone who has never seen an attractive salad in a restaurant. Despite the disappointment with the salad the service was friendly and efficient. When I actually complimented the cook on his pizza and commented on the bruschetta not being bruschetta he said that I was right and that was the way he made it for his Portuguese customers. Too bad.
Where to eat Mediterranean food in Barcelos: The Best Restaurants and Bars
