Another wonderful breakfast at my favourite breakfast place in Ohakune. The fare this time was pancakes with banana and bacon- absolutely scrumptious!!! Oodles of maple syrup and generous amounts of bacon made for the best beakfast in a long while! All this topped off with a great pot of tea in their delighful teacups and a wonderful view of Mt Ruapehu!! I will be back.
With a fire place in the middle of the restaurant, the Take Five is a warm place to chill out with some good food and drinks.
A group of friends and myself went in for a late dinner and ended up staying to have a few drinks and a dance. Excellent food, the staff were absolutely amazing and the atmosphere was awesome both for a nice meal out and then a party in the later hours. Will definitely be back!

What a con. Gfâs steak was very well done when asked for medium rare. Staff were very nonchalant and would not provide a replacement. Whisky sours used some horrible sugar syrup. Had to ask for finger bowls and cutlery for the ribs, got to the bottom of my chips and found a paper napkin stick to my plate with sauce from the ribs. $90 for two meals, a glass of wine and a coffee. - pretty average.... but this place isnât marketing itself as lone star- shame though, lone star would be much better

I had been to this bar many times before for the nightlife, but dinner upstairs was amazing. We were sat beside an open round fire and the ambiance was great. My wife and I ordered wine and the waitress was really knowledgeable about the selection. The kids got mac and cheese and loved it. I had the lamb rack, it was cooked to perfection and paired with the wine beautifully. My wife had the squid ink tagliarini & loved it also. We were too full for dessert but we were really tempted. It was a great atmosphere and wouldn't hesitate to recommend

Oh my, this burger was scrumptious with the tastiest beef and custom made bun. Their other food is nice but today their special burger hit the tastebuds. And sitting out in the sun under the trees was a nice addition This was in the autumn, Easter Friday, when the weather still allows outside sitting Thankyou

The Powderkeg is the heart of the Powderhorn Chateau and is where the most of the fun tends to begin! Situated at the start of The Old Coach Road, The Powderkeg guarantees a fun and hospitable atmosphere! Many a tall story is told over a cold beer seated
Not a great experience. Ordered a chai latte with soy milk for $6.50! Thought it was a mistake so asked an employee she wouldn't look at me when answering. Would recommend getting a coffee menu, if I was informed I wouldn't have bought a coffee. Drink was cold, sent it back, staff were ok about that. Really lacks a friendly atmosphere and staff obviously don't like what thay are doing. Would not buy drinks here again.

Locally owned and operated restaurant. Family friendly. Open all year round seven days a week.
Went here for lunch on the weekend. Place wasn't very busy maybe two other tables. Coffee had good taste but wasn't very hot. Our meals took forever to arrive and when they did my Thai Chicken Noodle dish was pretty tasteless. Don't think I would bother returning.
