Great pub with large dining restuarant - good varied menu and on the main shopping street in Invercargill - usually pretty busy place.
Popped in for lunch on a weekday with a couple of work colleagues. We all ordered the $10 lunch special which was chicken schnitzel, salad and fries. We were all pretty happy with our meal, nicely cooked and the gravy was a nice surprise. The only let down was the time it took for our meals to come out. Having a 1 hour lunch break we had to rush to eat our food which isnt very enjoyable. Overall would recommend if you have time to spare.

Nice place for lunch and snacks, great atmosphere among the animal sculptures. Staff informed us they would close in a few weeks and open after a break. Part of the downtown renovation. Our experience was great with helpful staff, prompt service, well prepared food.

The warm inviting ambiance was obvious from the time I walked through the doors. The open fire added the ambiance on a cold wet night. This large venue offers upstairs and downstairs seating. The service was quick and attentive and the generous sized meal was great. Nice night thank you.

Well not the worst burger I've ever had but must be close. Dry and no flavor. Just lacking in anything really. So to be fair it wasn't all bad. The potato skins were good and the apple shortcake was as well. Still I expect more when I am paying $20 for a burger.

We have a lovely warm and inviting restaurant. We use all locally sourced product with very generous servings with an emphasis on the meat portion of the meal. Our steaks are 250gms up to the "Donald Trump Choker", which is 500gm and cooked slowly over 20
We arrived on a rainy Friday night to find the restaurant crowded and a real buzz. Luckily the car park at the rear has a good capacity and you can enter by a rear door. Staff were friendly and we were soon seated, even without a reservation. The menu is quirAky being inside a newspaper, but fun. Many options but we started with the Buff oysters which were plump and fresh but lacking a bit of sea saltiness. However our mains of the Farmers Lamb Duo and the confit Duck were of high standard. Meal sizes are such that you will not leave hungry! Our dessert of upside down cheesecake was a bit to soft and creamy although tasty. We tried an Otago Pinot Noir which was good quality and finished with coffee, We would return.

The atmosphere was amazing, warm and inviting with a fire on a cold Invercargill night. The only thing that was lacking was a little sauce for the adult main meals as some of it ie hasstleback potatoes were dry. Food was good, just needed sauces to add flavour and moisture. COD was a little dry as well.Hello, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, I am pleased to hear that atmosphere was warm & inviting. I will pass this feedback on to the chefs so that they can prevent this from occurring again. We hope to see you back again soon!Warm Regards, Brooke Pennicott. Restaurant Manager.

Local cusine cooked fresh daily, bursting with flavour and generous serves. Followed by great service and pleasant clean decor.
Was in Invercargill visiting and visited on recommendation. Hostessâs attitude was average and uninformative. Wine selection was good and on par with prices elsewhere. Entrees were good and not frozen seafood like most places. Main was below par. Pork crackle was old and not crackle. No snap at all and rubbery to chew. Chicken and portabello pasta had a good flavour in the sauce and thatâs where it stops. Chicken was over cooked, lack of mushrooms present and pasta was store bought and not consistent in cooking. Completely over priced for what was served. Big city prices so expecting excellence and got the complete opposite

We had the most gorgeous meal at Louieâs last weekend. The chef is brilliant. He knows his craft! We started off with warm olives and breads. Yum! I had the lamb and it was melt in your mouth perfection. Others had steak and venison and all of us enjoyed our food. We will be back again!

The cafe is easy to find with plenty of free on street parking. We both had breakfast. Pancakes for the husband and smashed avocados on terrific sourdough bread for me. The servings were enormous. Personally I could have done with half the quantity at half the price but the flavours and presentation were terrific. The music was a bit too loud, but I enjoyed it. It would be hard to talk in a group though. The coffee was good. Overall very pleasant.

We enjoyed a birthday dinner for 7 people mid week and received excellent service. The blue cod was delicious, the venison superb and the chicken tasty. The desserts were beautiful and the drinks list contained great variety. The meals were beautifully presented and service professional. They even sell a range of tea leaves that you can take home. This restaurant isnât in the main shopping area but itâs well worth travelling the small distance to get there.
