The Currach Irish Pub & Innkeeper's Lodge is set in a lovely garden setting, across the road from beautiful Pa Beach and Tryphena Harbour. The Currach is Great Barrier's iconic Irish Pub with beautiful authentic bric a brac. The pub offers a delicious men
There was little to chose from on Anzac Day, but this was one place open and serving meals. Later that night a gig was booked, so it might have been a fun night for those who were there.Loved the memorabilia and Irish quirks.Expensive drinks, and very average food.IHi Helen Yes most places close on a public holiday due to the incresed wage costs. We decided to open , despite the fact that we make very little money on a public holiday. We think it is important for Great barrier visitors to have somewhere to go . Bringing bands to the Island isn't cheap either but we also like to offer entertainment to our guests. Pity you thought we were expensive, the public holiday surcharge covers about a third of our increased costs. As for Iris.h Fare, you obviously have never tried traditional Irish Stew

A relaxed cafe and dining experience like no other. Located in the heart of Claris on Aotea, Great Barrier Island this small family run cafe features stunning indoor and outdoor courtyard seating surrounded by lush gardens and funky modern decor. We speci
It had been a long while since I last stayed on the Barrier but was delighted to discover this gem during our week there in February. We had pizza one evening, enjoyed the courtyard sunshine and music, and buzzy vibe with many obviously (lucky) locals gathered. It was totally laid back and a nice, beachy feel - pizzas were large and loaded with local produce with some great wines and ales to wash it down. We also came here most days for the fantastic coffee and the divine black bean brownie which I have rather become addicted too. Might just have to beg for the recipe!

Breakfast and lunch menu, homemade pies and cakes, sandwiches and regular specials.
Open thru winter which is great if you visit in August. Loved the food - amazing pies. Also good coffee. Happy!

Ordered small double shot flat white, and a big breakfast. Coffee came out in large cup (friends also did, and was also ordered as small). And the breakfast looked good but alas was very cold, all of it! Cold dry mushrooms cold roasted tomatoes cold eggs cold sausages the whole lot cold! Very disappointing and I certainly wonât be back.
What to do and see in Great Barrier Island, New Zealand: The Best Places and Tips
Visited this with 6 friends to celebrate a birthday. The food choice was limited and several menu items were not available.Service was slow and portions small. The place looks tired and needs refurbishment. As the only restaurant in the north of Great Barrier Island it was a disappointment. Also visited once for drinks.
