The Capri is the "old fashioned" perfect kind of cafe we remember in NZ. Great food at a good price and very friendly helpful staff. Traditional fresh sandwiches with tasty innovative fillings, pies & pastries, great scones and most importantly perfect oyster soup & toast! There are also larger meals available - blue cod, mixed grill, hamburgers etc.The coffee was very good & just as we requested - extra hot! There are very well-serviced toilets. If staying or passing through Gore, the Capri is a must! We travelled from Dunedin & held off a stop just so we could return to the Capri after our first visit 2 years ago.Keep up the good work Capri team you do it very well!

We appreciated much about this spur of the moment stop over. Cafe very spacious and relaxing - a great variety of food. Thoroughly enjoyed the food my friend and I ordered, all very tasty but definitely spoilt by the spasmodic service. There seemed to be plenty of staff but food was very slow in coming to the table and delivered bit by bit.

Rustic Cafe and Restaurant is a licensed independent family owned cafe and restaurant in Gore, Southland with a great selection of Cabinet food and a very tasty Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner menu. We also have a selection of vegan, gluten free and sugar fre
Group of ten booked for 6:30pm. Meal order taken just before 7pm. At the same time asked for more water as containers were empty. Then noticed three water glasses short. Somewhere around ten or quarter past seven other party members left the table to get water and glasses. Disappointing service. Meals arrived about the same time. Prices on menu seemed expensive, but size of the meals explained that. No excuse for going home hungry. As well as comments about the large size of the meals, everybody was impressed with how well the food was prepared. Very tasty and right temperature to eat. Also ordered Irish Coffee. Don't bother. Made with Jamiesons whisky, but arrived more like a cocktail than correctly prepared. Strong whisky taste which could have been in any liquid without being coffee. Topped with large dollop of cream which appeared to come from those cream "foam" dispenser cans. If I had seen one first I simply would never have ordered. Totally unlike drinking rich coffee through lightly whipped cream when it is made the way it should be. Tasty, generous meal in good atmosphere, but edge taken off slightly by issues with water and Irish Coffee.Restaurant appeared full just about to capacity. Wait staff seemed to be rushed off their feet as if they were under-staffed.Would we go back? Not Sure.

RSA = returned service association which are through out New Zealand. Part of the Chartered Clubs of New Zealand.
Six of us dined here and all settled for the tried and true kiwi bistro dish, the Chicken Snitzel....well all but one, the other had Blue Cod. The only down side to the night was the wait time - probably about an hour for what seemed a simple dish c/w chips and serve your own salads. The meals were pretty good and cooked well. Not a bad cheap night out.

A Vibrant Restaurant, newly renovated with an intimate feel, great outdoor dining in the summer and a warm and friendly winter place with our "Blazing Copper" fire place. Award winning dishes with a focus on great service.
Although the surroundings are very pleasant at Blazing Copper Restaurant and the service good, the meal was exceedingly average and the chef had over ordered carrots for that day. The mousse portion was huge and uninteresting with what looked like a big rusk on the side. The table needs mending which we drew to the staffs attention but I think they knew about it and were quite rushed as there was a table of 25 and they wanted to get us through first.

Arriving in Gore we went in for lunch.Kids running around screaming so we sat in the bar area.I was shocked to see Salmon for $38 and was totally disappointed when it arrived. Menu was a mismatch of pub food at fine dining prices.
