It certainly makes a difference to have carpet on the floor! I know this is a food review but if you cant hear your friends speak from noisy wooden floors whats the point in going? Now for the food. The four of us met up and dined in the more formal part of the restaurant. It was Brilliant! Hadn't been out for a meal for yonks. We ordered the garlic bread and bruschetta with cheese tomato and balsamic glaze for starters. Yum!! 2 of us had the pork belly.. 1 the venison and the other the steak with vegies. We were all thoroughly delighted with our meals and plates were left almost spotless! Hadn't been here for a long time and we won't take so long to go back next time.Staff were great.. polite..efficient..smiley.. Thanks for a great night team.. lovely relaxing and even though there was a band in the next bar, it wasn't intrusive where we were.

Fun night out with 19 of us. The vegetarian tart was delicious but just couldn't cut through bottom pastry even after asking for a steak knife! Many of us ended up using our hands!!Unfortunately the Indian looking waiter had DREADFUL body odour which just got worse thoughout the night, very unpleasant to have him leaning around you getting plates etc. He was friendly though. Enjoyed the food. Would have been great if all our empty water bottles were replaced.

This is a fairly small cafe in the larger Countdown shopping centre. It was extremely busy so we were fairly sure that it would be a good choice for lunch. Taste Cafe didnât disappoint. My friend had a corned beef sandwich which had homemade corned beef while I ordered the potato and bacon salad. Both meals were delicious. Service could not be faulted...they were both patient and efficient. A definite recommendation.

Kelly's is located on the main road and if anything the premises are a bit small - there are tables inside and out on the footpath but it is pretty compact. Good place for meeting up for drinks or dessert and coffee - can be a bit loud and busy though so lacks 'intimate' feel so not so much the romantic setting. Generally has good vibe and atmosphere with great menu - recommended.

Stopped off for some breakfast on our way back to Christchurch after a short break in Geraldine. First visit here so not sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. What a lovely little café with very friendly staff. We both ordered the cooked breakfast â one with poached eggs, the other scrambled. Iâm not overly keen on the bog-standard hash browns so they were happy to swap them for spinach, and as he isnât that keen on tomatoes, was allowed to swap for another sausage. Our food came out in a timely manner and looked delicious. The poached eggs were perfect and we both exclaimed how good the sausages were. I particularly enjoyed the side of tomato sauce, it certainly wasnât your standard Watties thatâs for sure. It seems this place is very popular with tourists and locals alike, and when we arrived there was quite a queue for the amazing selection of slices and cakes. Weâve often driven past this place on our way down south, but next time we are definitely stopping to pop in again because we were that impressed. Well done guys!

Nice large servings. Mine had 2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 chops, 2 onion rings, 1 steak and lots of fries. Steak a little overdone on all dishes that were ordered. For 5 of us including drinks it came to $255. Pretty good value.

Lovely café in a small shopping area just off the main highway 1 south west of Christchurch with plenty of parking. Quiet location, outside seating area, good selection of cakes and pastries and lunchtime meals. There is a wool/knitting shop adjacent. Very popular with locals. Good place to stop if youâre travelling on highway 1.

We have had several wonderful meals at Cleavers since it opened and have been twice in the last week. The Winemakers Dinner was a great night with the most delicious food with paired wines. We went again with friends for a birthday celebration and enjoyed a great fish and chips meal. The staff are always professional and friendly.

Stopped off for a mid week lunch. The menu is basic, however the quality and presentation of the food is fantastic. The menu prices are in the $30.00 to $40.00 range for a generous main meal. Worth a look.
