Find out what Moroccan restaurants to try in Vejer de la Frontera. Vejer de la Frontera is a Spanish hilltop town and municipality in the province of Cádiz, Andalusia, on the right bank of the river Barbate. The town of Vejer de la Frontera occupies a low hill overlooking the Straits of Gibraltar and surrounded by orchards and orange groves. It contains several ancient churches and convents, and the architecture of many of its houses recalls the period of Moorish rule, which lasted from 711 until the town was captured by Saint Ferdinand of Castile in 1248. Agriculture and fruit-farming are the chief industries; fighting bulls are also bred in the neighborhood and a running of the bulls is held annually.

Having read previous reviews we were wondering what to expect. We are staying in the hotel so had already explored the many corridors and rooms. This complex is 100âs of years old, combining 11 different houses. So understanding that and walking through it - the narrow and low corridors/stairwells in places just adds to the character of the place. The menu covers a variety of food groups and prices so most people are covered. We found the Targines to be very good.We had a bottle of house red for â¬15 which was very enjoyable. The service was very friendly and efficient. We were never left waiting and they were very helpful with us being non Spanish speakers. The overall experience (ambience, food, service, price) was great and we would certainly recommend. We also ate breakfast here which was amazing...

Excellent lunchtime spot. When you tire of Spanish food then Morrocan flavour is just the ticket. The Mezze: hummus, babaganoush, tabbouleh with hot bread was delicious, so too the lemon chicken. On offer too kebabs and hamburgers. Excellent menu and wine - with some unusual sherries too. Just right for a snack. A bargain too.

The Califa Express is right on the square which was a great spot for the entertainment, activities and general people watching during the August festival. The food is tasty, served quickly. We had falafel, humus, shwarma and a couple of rounds of drinks all for around 30 euros. It does have a touch of the fast food feel about it, but we weren't hurried along at all and its considerably cheaper than many places in Vejer town centre.
