Excellent food at affordable prices. My friend said the gyro is tie for the best he has ever had. As good as his favorite places in NYC. I had the chicken shawarma plate and it was tasty. They also accommodated my dietary needs. If you mention itâs your first visit they give each guest a piece of homemade Baklava. And since we are on the topic of Baklava... it was phenomenal. âAs good as you can get in Istanbulâ. A direct quote from a Baklava connoisseur. Enjoy. Great town. Kind staff. Also they dress the town up for Christmas and it looks like a Hallmark Christmas film set. Some of you will really appreciate this comment most. OH also as a benefit behind the restaurant is a park. Highly recommend a stroll both down the creek and over the walking bridge and driving bridges. Short walk and lovely scenery.... complete with chickens!!! Watch out as they tend to roam the parking lot.

fantastic wine and beer selection. the beer prices are reasonable. the good is good. Mediterranean healthy and well prepared. friendly staff and good service. it does not look like much from the outside but worth the visit. it is next door to a closed osh hardware store so parking is no problem.
When I heard a Mediterranean restaurant had moved in by Izyaraku (sorry for spelling) on Grand between 9th and 10th I couldn't wait to try. In this area, particularly this stretch of Grand Ave, the main food groups are Thai, Sushi, Hamburgers, Mexican and Pizza. I was thrilled to hear something different was coming! We went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Many things on the menu caught my eye, particularly the appetizers. I love to try new things and really enjoy the spices and flavors of Mediterranean cuisine. I ordered the Chicken Kebouli (sorry for spelling, again) wrap off the lunch special menu. It was my first time in and I went with something basic to start. We also ordered a falafel appetizer. Those falafel were fantastic and you can tell, authentic. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. YUM. The wrap was delicious and surprisingly filling (I couldn't finish it). The kebab plate, however, was worth the price, as it came with a sizeable slab of meat, a mound of saffron rice and accompanying vegetables. I'd encourage anyone hungry for something different to give Darwish a chance! The staff was very friendly and attentive. The owner (I assumed) came over and suggested pairing some pickled vegetable mix with our wraps, it was delicious, as well as telling us about the mystery shaker on the table, which turned out to be Sumac, a seasoning blend. We ordered Baklava (best I've had in this area so far) and Falludeh (spelling again, sorry) for dessert. I recommend both, highly. Falludeh is hard to explain... I would call it a Persian snow cone? It's icy and sweet with rosewater and comes with a small pitcher of lime juice to balance out the sweetness at your choosing. SO. GOOD. Overall, we had a great experience at Darwish. Next time, I'd order off the regular menu. The lunch specials are good if you are hungry and on a smaller budget (only $9.99 each for a meal that will fill you up) but the items on the regular menu that we tried were delicious and definitely worth the extra $5 or so. Darwish is authentic and the food is made with love. You can tell from the service and personal care they extend. Definitely recommend checking it out!
