Once a busy river port sending military supplies shipped from California to forts and camps in the Southwest to fight the Apache wars, today Yuma is a winter retreat for thousands of visitors craving its warm, dry and sunny climate. With warm weather comes golf, and the city has several excellent courses. Bird watchers will enjoy the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge, which is rich in migratory bird life and also offers hiking, fishing and boating facilities. For a step back in time to the days of frontier justice, visit the Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park, whose prison dates back to 1876, or the Yuma Crossing State Historic Park, for a walk through restored historic buildings. If these sites whet your appetite for more pioneer lore, check out the Century House Museum, which is chock full of pioneer artifacts and exhibits. And, speaking of appetite, be sure to stop for burgers and fries at Lutes Casino, Arizona's oldest pool hall, where old movie memorabilia graces the walls.

My husband and I are Yuma residents and decided to try La Fonda on a whim. we have actually eaten there a couple of times this past summer. The food is tasty and filling. Some stand outs are the cheese crisp, enchiladas and the soft grilled chicken tacos. The downsides are the prices are somewhat high for the area and the service. If you go in the middle or the morning or afternoon, service is good, however, try to avoid noon, because it seems that the staff become overwhelmed when there are too many people (forgotten salad, empty tea glasses ignored, incorrect order).I still recommend the restaurant, but time it so you can get the attention you deserve.

Had lunch here on a Friday. The beans & rice were ok but my rolled tacos were so small & I had to look for the beef. The shrimp tacos were full of stuff just not much shrimp. Nearly impossible to pick up to eat. It was ok but not as good as weâd expected when we asked locals where to eat. Not sure weâll be back.

and pricey, friendly waitresses, but still slow service, very loud inside, these are street taco sized, eaten in two bites, no exaggeration, skip it, too stylish for those of us who like to eat

Nice place, great attention from our waitress, all the dishes are pretty decent in portion and full of flavor, all the fish is fresh. You should try the molcajete and the gobernador taco, in the table there are lots of spicy and hot sauces to complement your order. Great place to eat

This family owned/run taco business is a hit in the Yuma Foothills and/or for anyone who stops by. Dedicated to their customers, their experience and delicious fish or shrimp tacos has diners lined up 6 days a week from mid-day until closing, usually about 9pm. Reasonably priced you can get your choice of condiments, beans, sodas, water to dine in or to go.

I haven't been to Tacos Mi Rancho since 2015 and I was impressed that time and was again this time. You will not find more authentic Mexican food anywhere. Their food is flavorful and generous. I will re3turn next time I'm in Yuma.

El Charro Cafe is one of Yumaâs oldest family owned restaurants. Established in 1949 by Tony and Lola Gutierrez, it was located on Fourth Avenue. It quickly became a favorite spot for Yuma families. In 1970, the Gutierrezâ relocated to a larger building o
We arrived around 11:30 AM, and the place started filling up fast after that. We were promptly seated, given menus, served chips and salsa, and our order was taken in good time. The homemade cilantro salsa here is very good! We both opted for the Un Poquito lunch special which comes with beans, rice, and a soft drink. I chose the folded taco with shredded beef which was tasty, and the amount of food with the special was perfect and not overwhelming. Larger appetites might prefer the combination, or the macho. Service was great, as well with the meal. Outside parking is adequate with room for many vehicles. I would come back here again.

I went on a Saturday, had Huevos Rancheros and a Taco Carne Asado. Very good food, lovely service - I felt very welcome. Best carne asado I found in Yuma. Informal interior that I feel could be a little nicer, but adds to the originality of the place. Would come again anytime.
