Sure it's fast food but the quality definitely makes a difference. Homemade beans, freshly grated real cheddar cheese, crisp lettuce, etc make even the cheapest items delicious. If you are counting pennies or calories the under a buck menu is for you. Larger burritos are also available with all kinds of options. Don't forget the fries. Hot and delicious! Hong ,the manager, runs a clean friendly store with a pleasant atmosphere. Open 24 hrs ,too.
WHAT A FIND!!! Usually, when we arrive in a city (this time Sacramento) we try to find a local hangout that is off-the-beaten-path. We never go fancy, so we're mostly on the lookout for a place that serves great food at a decent price! We nailed it with Chanda's!! Weird location (thank goodness for Google Maps), but outstanding tacos (Steak, Carnitas, Chicken), great salsa bar, and frigging Corona Extra on tap!!! Arguably, the best "Taco Joint" we've been to anywhere! If you're ever in Sacramento, and looking for cheap (but terrific) street type tacos, this is your place!!! We'll be back!!

Located at 2248 West Capitol Avenue the bright yellow stucco walls of the restaurant are visible for a few blocks. While the restaurant is not located on the best part of the street, what lies inside is worth the chance.El Puerto # 3 has been open for several years and provides great Mexican food at a modest price. I have eaten there on at least four occasions. When you are seated you are immediately presented with some warm chips and hot tangy salsa. Not store bough salsa mind you but hot homemade salsa which sets a mild fire to your tongue and all other senses.I ordered the chicken fajitas. They were to me on two platters one with the chicken and one with the condiments of sour cream, tomatoes, bell peppers, onions and guacamole. The chicken appeared to be roasted and marinated. Very tasty! Four small flour tortillas were given to me to make four delicious fajita mini burritos. The guacamole was especially tasty. My wife had the carnitas. The pork carnitas she said were so tender they basically melted in your mouth. A pleasant surprise from some other area Mexican restaurants whose carnitas are either very tough or stringy. The carnitas came with vegetables, rice and beans. The bowl of chips was filled at least once with fresh salsa at no extra cost. There is a small selection of beers available at the restaurant.Service was excellent. The waitress made sure that all our needs were met in a friendly and polite way. While my last visit was on a Saturday night it was not too busy to get a table.

The place is small and you could easily overlook it. It was so busy and crowded this lunch hour that this clearly is not a problem for Oscar's. You order at the counter and collect your own chips and salsa. I ordered two carne asada tacos thinking it would be a light lunch. There was more steak in this taco than I've even seen in a taco. Had to grab a fork to eat it all. It was super tasty--blended with guac and onions. We brought a big group after a meeting and it was hard to sit together. Great value.

Authentic Mexican food in a no frills setting. A huge menu with about every Mexican delicacy you can think of. This is an order at the counter and find a place to sit restaurant.. No wait staff, makes for fast service and excellent Mexican food. Place is filled with locals... That says a lot. 3.75 for a Mexican beer and about the same for a burrito.

My husband and I went here for lunch and got their lunch special. We both enjoyed our food. I have had Mexican food that was better. In a pinch I will go back but won't drive out of my way to go here.

TA helped us find this place and we are so glad we didIt was really busy but they said a table would be available in 20 mins so we took an opportunity to stroll around which was nice as the weather was really warm. Sure enough when we got back we were waved in and seated in the rear of the place. Great decor, the menu was extensive. The food was really good but so much of it. We all went for a combination meal but could have shared one with a few sides to be honest. We have big appetites so that is saying something. We took our left overs home. Really enjoyed and it was buzzing on the Friday evening that we visited.

This was one stop of our Sacramento food tour. The decor is museum quality and the food was amazing. We tried the crema poblano soup, baguette with caramelized onions, the chips and salsa, and watermelon aqua fresca. Everything was delicious, especially the soup, with all sorts of interesting flavor and a slight zing.

Zocalo is a favorite when looking for good Mexican food in an upscale atmosphere. We recently had occasion to catch up with friends for lunch and chose Zocalo midtown on a week day. The restaurant is nicely appointed and the food was good. The staff is friendly, available, helpful and efficient. A bonus was the personal touch from server Rosa G., who was wonderful. We had such a great time, we're already talking about plans to go again soon. Very nice.
