This restaurant is not immediately impressive from outside, but once inside, the diner feels welcomed and appreciated. The waiter was very patient and also helpful as I explored their menu. The food was excellently prepared from fresh ingredients and seasoned for the typical gringo tastebuds. There are, of course, numerous well-known bottled salsas available; the house dipping salsa is quite bland (rather ketchup-like). I was amazed at the size of the portions for the price. Highly recommended overall.

We had dinner at La Ribera while visiting the Little Washington area. The restaurant was packed with local customers (always a good sign.) The waiter was extremely friendly and helpful. He recommended the Monday special. It was delicious, served piping hot, and the food was plentiful. If you want romantic Mexican decor and ambiance, then this place is probably not for you, but if you want delicious food, fast and friendly service, and a very reasonable price, then La Ribera is for you.

Two of us dined at this restaurant on December 28th. It has recently changed names to this name and is apparently under new management with new staff. I have to say I am not at all impressed. We were seated at a booth closest to the front door. Because they removed the interior lobby doors, every time someone opened the outside doors we were blasted with cold air. After being seated, they brought chips and salsa. The chips were clearly out of a bag and not warmed or salted and the salsa had no flavor - it might as well have been tomato juice. I ordered Texas fajitas and the person with me ordered beef and chicken fajitas. Mine had no flavor. Because I asked for only onions and for double beans, my plate was substantially different than my companionâs. My onions were at least cooked through and the shrimp and chicken were tender if needing salt and pepper. The beef in my Texas fajitas was so tough I literally could not bite through it. On the other hand, the person with me had her fajitas with onion, bell pepper, and tomato and rice and beans directly as listed on the menu. She was surprised by the rice which had potato and carrot in it (not listed on menu). The beef in her fajitas was also like rawhide and there was no seasoning. The worst part, though, were the peppers and tomato. The peppers had been cut and were not even warmed through before being put with the fajita meats in the sizzling tray. The tomato was one tomato literally cut in half (into 2 pieces) and slapped on a flat top for 10 seconds before being added to the cold pepper and tough beef strips. We did complain but were told they were sorry we didnât like it and no other recompense was taken. Neither of us ate more than 4/5 bites of the fajitas. I did eat most of my beans but that was it. Please beware new ownership and cooks and menu and really BAD food.
