Things to do in Waldorf
A relatively New Mexican restaurant in Waldorf, MD, so had to try it. Arrived at noon, and place was empty, except for one employee who tried to take order, despite lack of English language skills. As we sat there, other employees arrived at work and we could communicate. Service was slow. Chips and salsa good, but asked for "hot" salsa, and got a bowl of the same mild. Appetizer of quest/chorizo was spicy and quite tasty. Rest of the meal was edible but nothing I would order again. This included tacos, enchilada, chalupa, rice and beans. The white cheese topping was chewy and not every good. Enchilada had no sauce on it. Glad I got to try another place in my search for good Mexican food, but this is not it. La Tolteca in Waldorf and La Plata remains my #1 choice, followed by Chipotle.
Find your nearby Taco Bell at 91 Smallwood Drive in Waldorf. We're serving all your favorite menu items, from classic burritos and tacos, to new favorites like the $5 Double Stacked Tacos Box, Crunchwrap Supreme, Fiesta Taco Salad, and Chalupa Supreme. So
I don't mind going to this taco bell, when the craving strikes. Just be sure to be in your small vehicle! The drive through driveway is TINY and small cars might have to make 2-3 point turns.

I don't usually write bad reviews but I had to write this one to spare someone else the agony....this was one of the worst dining experiences we've had in a long time:We were seated right away. Restaurant was NOT full for a Thursday night. Our waitress acted as if we were bothering her, forgot napkins, didn't clear dirty dishes until asked.2 steak orders came out wrong, when returned one looked fresh the other was lukewarm. She asked it we wanted it replaced which took another 20 mins. Manager came out and explained that it took 3 tries to get my steak right. Really! By this time my family was finished eating. Order taken off of bill, since we had movie tickets, manager offered and brought it to me in a to go container. This was not the way I wanted to enjoy my dinner! We were celebrating my sister's birthday and would've chosen another restaurant if I had known celebrating is up to each location and this one doesn't. Still no happy birthday from the waitress even after we mentioned it (she could see the balloons) and she explained the policy. This is a terrible policy, I can get happy b-day acknowledgement at Chevy's, IHOP, Fridays or any place else. The manager finally wished her a happy b-day after I mentioned the poor service. Even my teens noticed it was bad and they don't notice much. I had better service at McDonald's this morning. I can cook way better than the food I was served. I wished I had just stayed at home!
Where to eat Bar food in Waldorf: The Best Restaurants and Bars
I first saw this new restaurant passing by on Hwy 301 in Waldorf. When I read a first review with pictures on Yelp, I knew I would have to try it in my ongoing effort to find worthy Mexican food in Charles County. While my meal today was OK, it probably does not warrant a return visit. My wife daughter and I tries tacos (beef and tongue), menudo, rice and beans. 3 condiments are on the table, a hot red salsa, a mild green salsa, and pickled sliced onion and jalapeños. The menudo comes with chopped onion and cilantro. The menu so was under spiced to our tastes, so I added a lot of red salsa. The meat was clearly long simmered until gelatinous, as expected. The small bowl is plenty large. Only corn tortillas are used for tacos, no flour tacos. The only filling in the tacos are the seasoned meat. These are NOT Chipotle tacos. The tacos are served with a char-grilled green onion and slices of lime, radish and cucumber. The rice and beans were serviceable. While these tacos and this menudo would have seemed like manna from heaven 50 years ago at the end of a long night in a Tex/Mex Border town, today it is seriously lacking. Maybe age has made me more selective.
Here for dinner on a hot day. Got our usual salad bowl. Same meats and fillings as always and two fountain drinks. Bill was about $3-4 higher then I remember!?!?! While eating I read over the menu....pricing was up from what we remembered. Food was fresh and served happily. Dining area could have used some cleaning up. Still lots of carryout!

We have wondered about this place for years but did not try it because it is in one our ubiquitous strip malls and didn't look like anything special. We have been wanting some good Mexican for months since our previous favorite place went of business. Wow, we were very pleasantly surprised! The service and fast and excellent and the food was way better than we expected. I have to come back for those awesome, warm, crispy chips and that "just right" salsa. The chicken fajitas were perfect, sizzling and voluminous!! The margaritas were fine once they had chilled sufficiently-The mix might not have been chilled beforehand and the drinks didn't give us a buzz BUT they were fine. Overall, our expectations were exceeded and the price was VERY reasonable!.
